Tirap is a district that is located in the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh and the district is located in the southeastern part of the state. The district shares its state borders with Assam and Nagaland, district border with Changlang and international border with Myanmar. The headquarters of the district is the city of Khonsa and it is spread over an area of 2362 km2. There are seven constituencies of the Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly in the district namely Pongchau-Wakka, Longding-Pumao, Kanubari, Borduria-Bogapani, Khonsa West, Khonsa East and Namsang and all these are part of constituency of the east lok sabha of the state of Arunachal Pradesh.

Tirap is the home for the popular Ramakrishna Mission School and several other schools and when it comes to higher education, the district has only two colleges and these colleges are government colleges working under the government of Arunachal Pradesh. Tirap Government College is functioning effectively under the control of the Government of Arunachal Pradesh with affiliation from the Rajiv Gandhi University located in Arunachal Pradesh, which is a central university. The college has been offering its service to the educational scenario of the state of Arunachal Pradesh from the year 1997 and the college offers arts, science and commerce education at the UG level not only for students belonging to the state of Arunachal Pradesh, but also for students belonging to other states as well.

Wngcha Rajkumar Government College, Deomali:

This college came into existence in the year 1997 and it is also functioning from the Government of Arunachal Pradesh. The college offers arts courses at the UG level with affiliation from the Rajiv Gandhi University belonging to the same state.

Thus, out of the 10 government colleges functioning in the state of Arunachal Pradesh, two colleges are functioning from the Tirap District. These colleges are functioning under the effective guidance of the education department of Government of Arunachal Pradesh and admission of students to these colleges is done according to the norms laid by the government of Arunachal Pradesh and the affiliating university from time to time.

Students from the other states of India are also approaching these colleges for admission and admission is being offered by these colleges to students belonging to other states and even NRI students as well.
