The Punjab Technological University conducts semester wise examination for different courses. The Formal Language and Autamata Theory paper is included in the 8th sem of B.Tech in Computer Science Engineering course. This paper basically engaged with the modules of natural and formal languages. This also gives the detailed knowledge about the grammars that are basically used to cherish the language.

The Formal Language and Autamata Theory Paper have its own place amongst all the papers. This paper is known to evaluate and expand the knowledge of languages that are learnt by the students and with the use of this language one can express his/her personality. Like every language, grammars are very much important. Similarly, candidates also have to keep the knowledge about the different types of grammars and its parts.

Paper pattern:

There are almost similar types of paper pattern are followed for every B.Tech course papers. The complete question paper is set in three different groups A, B and C respectively. The first group consists of ten questions and all are mandatory to answer. The total marks allotted to each question of this group are two. The second one includes five questions each carrying five marks, out of which only four questions are necessary to attempt. The last group holds a total of three questions out of which two questions are compulsory. Each question carries ten marks.

The questions that are continuously present in almost every year are to construct a regular G which is represented by some equation, to generate the design to recognize the language and Chomosky classification of language grammar etc.

Marks and time:

The total marks contained by this paper are 60 and time duration fixed for every appearing individual is three hours.
