Congratulations on clearing IBPS Written Examination!!!…. What Next?
As most of us know, IBPS is the Selection Examination conducted by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection, which as the name implies for the purpose of selection of management trainees and probationary officers in around 19 public sector banks in the nation. Initial stage in the process of selection of banking personnel will be based on Common Written Examination Score and candidates securing the qualifying marks in this examination will get their score card from the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection.
However, final selection of candidates will be based on their performance in the interview, which will be conducted by the banks individually after short-listing of candidates. Now, candidates, who have succeeded in the written examination, would be happy and also they might be worrying about clearing next stage called one to one interview in getting into a job in their dream sector. Usually, this Interview will be conducted in two stages namely HR Interview and Technical interview. Here, you can learn about the type of questions that might be asked in the interview and the questions are divided under different segments in such a way as to offer a better understanding:
HR Interview:
Questions of Personal Nature: Under this category, the questions can include explaining about yourself, your home town, your personal hobbies and why you wish to enter the banking sector, etc…
Questions on qualification: Here, the questions might be pertaining to your field of educational specialization like literature, computer science, engineering, commerce, etc… and you might be asked how your qualification can help in the development of the bank.
Questions pertaining to your experience: In case you possess some years of experience in some field, questions pertaining to your previous/current employer, training you have acquired from your current or previous job, etc… can be asked.
Technical Interview:
Questions to check banking awareness: Here, questions will be triggered in such a way as to check your knowledge about the banking sector. Questions can be pertaining to liquidity control measures, inflation, Repo rate, bank rate, SLR, CRR, monetary policy, current news in the banking sector, etc…

When you are preparing yourself for the banking interview, it is essential to develop qualities like confidence, effective communication skills, good body language, good attitude, politeness and personality. You can check out some books like ‘How to face Bank PO Interview by N.S. Toor and ‘Guide to bank PO interview by M.S. Shibaram’.
It is better to keep yourself updated about the current affairs and banking & Economic news by reading different daily newspapers/magazines. When you have prepared well for the interview, you can be confident enough while facing the interview. However, it should not show the interviewers as if you are over confident.
