Tips to clear English Language Paper in Bank PO Exams
English language is a compulsory section in almost all bank PO exams. Some banks specify this as a qualifying section where as some others count the marks scored in this section along with the total score for ranking. Even though the section acts as a qualifying one, this section has its own importance like other sections. The candidate should obtain minimum cut off marks to qualify the test. Good English skills are also required to do well in the descriptive section of Bank PO exams.
Question pattern of English paper in Bank PO Exams
The total of 50 questions is generally asked in the English section. This will consist of questions from
- Comprehension passage: 15 questions
- Sentence correction: 10 questions
- Sentence rearrangement: 5 questions
- Phrase replacement: 10 questions
- Paragraph filling blanks: 10 questions
Though this is the general pattern for Bank PO exams, one can expect slight alterations in the mentioned pattern for different exams.
Time management is very important to crack competitive bank exams. The candidate has to answer the questions within the time limits specified. Therefore, the candidate should be aware of the time factor and the need to plan out answering each section within a targeted time frame. Those with strong vocabulary can easily pass the section. Vocabulary can be developed by continuous reading. Reading newspapers will be beneficial to improve the vocabulary and also to increase the general awareness.
