Chemists (Junior), UPSC Union Public Service Commission
Union Public Service Commission popularly known as UPSC is a govt. body which undertakes the task of recruiting suitable officers or employees in various offices of the govt., it gives advice to the govt. regarding the methods of recruitment and also handles the disciplinary cases etc.
Job profile: The chemists will be required to work in Geological Survey of India which is under Ministry of Mines. They will be required to carry out analytical work related to ores, minerals, rocks, metals and allied materials etc.
Eligibility: A candidate must not exceed the age of 35 years. However, relaxation can be claimed as per the rules.
Educational Qualifications: A candidate must have an M.Sc degree in chemistry or applied chemistry from a recognized university or an institute with a minimum of 3 years of lab experience related to the utilization of ores.
No. of posts: There are 27 posts in total which include 4 for SC, 3 for ST, 7 for OBC and the rest for UR.
Pay scale: The chemists will get a pay scale of Rs8000-13500 plus the other usual allowances as per the rules.
Selection process: The candidates will have to appear for a written test (if any) followed by an interview. The education and the experience will also be taken into account.
How to apply: The candidates are required to apply as per the format available on the website. The candidates are also required to pay the necessary postage fee of Rs50 (Only for OBC and GEN). The candidates must also send the attested copies of their certificates and a self addressed envelope with a stamp of Rs6. All the applications must be sent to the Secretary, UPSC¸ Dholpur House, Shahjahan Road New Delhi-110069
The last date for the receipt of applications is 15th October 2009.

I was called for interview on 28 July 2008 for chemist(Jr.). My roll was 513.On the day of interview I asked a experience certificate is needed relating to minerals and ores.I sent the experience certificate within 15 days by speed post with A/D addressed to Mrs Neera Sharma under secretary Govt.of India.Some results were published but some were hold with few reasons.However I coardially requested you to know what is the present status of my job.
