Hello friend,
The examination for recruitment of candidates in the Indian Police is conducted by union public service commission every year.
As per the union public service commission's guidelines, one must be graduate, in any discipline, to be eligible for the exam.
The minimum eligible age is 21 years and the maximum age limit is 30 years.
The maximum age limit, is however, relaxed for candidates belonging to OBC category and SC/ST category.

The examination is usually known as civil service exam and comprise of two written exams and an interview. One must qualify all the stages to be considered for the Indian Police Service.

IPS exam is conducted by UPSC. There are some criteria you have to follow for appearing in IPS exam.

Those candidate have completed graduation in any discipline from recognized university are eligible for IPS exam.

Eligiblity For IPS Officer -

IPS : Indian Police Service.

This examination was Conducted by UPSC Comission every year and the examination called CSAT (Civil services aptitude test). The examination was Divided into 2 Parts (i) Preliminary examination (ii) Main examination.

Preliminary examination called CSAT and those who cracked the Preliminary examination are eligible for Main examination, Preliminary examination consist of 2 Papers and Both the paper was Objective, But Main examination was descriptive and You have to choose the Optional subjects for Main examination as per your graduate subjects.

To apply for this examination you need to satisfied these given eligibility Criteria :

>> You have completed your Graduate degree course in any discipline form a recognised university.

>> Final year graduate candidates are also eligible for UPSC Civil services examination.

>> Your age should between 21 to 30 years, Upper age relaxation is applicable for SC/ST/OBC Candidates.

So, Graduation is the Minimum Eligiblity To apply for UPSC Civil services examination.

So, please apply for this examination next year, if your graduation course is completed or if you are Pursuing final year graduate course.

The Notification was Going to be declared in the employment Newspaper OR in the UPSC website on 04/Feb/2012. The last date of apply for This examination was 05/March/2012 and the examination was Going to be held on 20/May/2012.

Eligible candidates may fill the application form Online or Offline, But I will suggest you please fill the application form Online after declaring the Notification in Next year.

And Please prepare for Preliminary examination according to the syllabus, only then you are eligible to appear for Main examination. So, please wait for the Notification and then apply for UPSC Civil services examination next year and for more details please check official website -

Eligibility Criteria for Civil Service Exams

According to the UPSC guidelines..a candidate must satisfy the following criterion to appear for the Civil Service Exam :-

1) You need to be a graduate or a final year graduation student in any stream from an AICTE or UGC recognized University..

2) You should be in the age limit of 21-30 years for general category,21-33 years for OBC and 21-35 years for SC/ST

The maximum number of attempts allowed for the general category is 4,for OBC it is 7 and for SC/ST there is no limit..

Exam Pattern :-

There are 2 rounds for clearing this exam

1) Prelims :- This round..also known as Civil Service Aptitude Test(CSAT) has 2 objective papers which will test your general knowledge,current affairs and aptitude..

2) Mains :- If you clear the Prelims,then you shall qualify for the Mains where you will face nine papers..where your knowledge of your graduation subjects shall be tested..

If you clear both the rounds..you shall be called for the interview and the final selection..

I.P.S exam is conducted by U.P.S.C one in a year.
You can apply after graduation.

Eligibility criteria:-

To become a IPS officer,you should appear for Civil Service exam and should have good rank.
Civil Service exam is conducted by union Public Service Commission every year once to take qualified students into different service post in government sector.

To appear for Civil Service exam,you should have complete graduation degree with any stream from a recognized university and your age should be between 21 to 30 years.
