B.A. LL.B is offered by the University Institute of Legal Studies (UILS) and Regional Centre (RC) of Panjab University.120 seats are available in Chandigarh, 87 in Ludhiana and 50 in Hoshiarpur under UILS and RC, Panjab University. Admissions to the B.A. LL.B course will be based on the marks scored in the qualifying examination and the Common Entrance Test (CET). Both will have a weightage of 50% each.

Admission for NRI candidates and foreign nationals will be based on the Scholastic Aptitude test II (SATII) for aspirants abroad at the time of entrance test or through the Common Entrance Test (CET). The CET fee is Rs 1800/- for candidates who belong to the general category and Rs 900/- for those belonging to the SC/ST category.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates who have passed the 10+2 or an equivalent from any recognized board or university with 50% marks are eligible to apply. Applicants who belong to SC/ST/BC should have a minimum of 45% marks in the qualifying examination.

Pattern of Panjab University B.A. LL.B Exam

Candidates seeking admission to B.A. LL.B course are required to choose Paper 1, titled ‘Legal and General Awareness’.

The Common Entrance Test (CET) follows the objective model with multiple choice questions. Candidates are required to mark the answers in the OMR sheet provided during the exam.

The paper contains 100 questions to be completed within the duration of 90 minutes. Each question carries one mark.1/4 marks or 25% from the total marks obtained will be deducted for marking incorrect answers.

The following areas will be covered in the entrance examination:

  • General Knowledge
  • Current Affairs
  • Law Aptitude
  • Mental Ability
  • English Language Proficiency

There will be 60 questions from General Knowledge and Current Affairs. 20 questions will be for assessing candidate’s aptitude for Law. 10 questions will be from metal ability and another 10 questions will be for testing the candidate’s proficiency in English Language.

The common entrance test for B.A. LL.B course will have question papers in different mediums. Candidates can attempt the exam in the following languages:

  • English
  • Hindi
  • Punjabi

Sample question papers are available in the university website. Candidates are required to follow the instructions printed on the Question Booklet and OMR sheet. The CET results can be accessed from the University website http://www.results.puchd.ac.in or from the Enquiry Office of the University.
