How to Prepare for Panjab University B. Ed Entrance Exam?

The Panjab University offer B.Ed program in regular and correspondence mode. They conduct entrance exam for the potential candidates. The qualified students will get chance to study the one year regular program in College of education. The students who are opting for the two year correspondence course will enrol under University School of Open learning and Punjab University. The minimum educational qualification required is bachelor degree with 45% mark in the qualifying examination. The students having Masters Degree or having two years teaching experience can also apply. The exam is generally held in the 3rd week of July.

Structure of the Examination

The exam will have multiple choice objective type questions. It carries 75 questions, each carry one mark and is divided into five parts. Each session contains questions of 15 marks and students have to attend every session. The duration of the exam is set to be 1 ½ hours. There will be negative marks for the wrong answer. The topics include

  • Teaching Potential test
  • General Awareness
  • General Mental ability
  • Language Proficiency test

Syllabus of the Exam

  • The General awareness covers the areas of Indian Constitution and History, general science etc. It also includes questions from current awareness and general science.
  • The teaching potential evaluates the applicant’s knowledge and base in the teaching methodology. It also carries questions from the primary class topics.
  • The language proficiency test is to assess the knowledge in the language part of Panjabi, English or Hindi. The test may carry either of the languages.

Reference Books

They can refer to books for the CAT , Bank PO Test etc. These will include books by R.S. Agarwal, Oswal, Ajay Singh etc.

Study plan

The students should be well trained for the exam. They have to develop a habit of reading newspaper both in the regional as well as in the English language. They can prepare with the mock tests and previous years question papers. There are many sample papers available by online and in the shops. The students should study each topic properly. No areas should be left uncovered. For the language proficiency test there are many sample online test are accessible. The regular practice will help to correct and improve each area.
