Exam Pattern & Application Procedure for National Law Institute Common Admission Test
National Law Institute is a premier institute offering legal education over the last 5 decades. The institute offers online certificate courses, PG Diploma Courses, and LLM. Admission to regular and part time LLM courses is done on the basis of a written test namely Common Admission Test (CAT). The questions in the test would be from topics like Constitutional law, Jurisprudence, Law Act, etc. Applications for attending the test can be submitted via online or postal method.
Exam Pattern for National Law Institute Common Admission Test
Selection of suitable candidates is done on the basis of a common admission test, group discussion, and viva voce. Common admission test comprises of 4 parts. Total time for the test is two and half hours. Part I and part II contains objective type questions, 30 and 70 in number respectively. Each of the questions carries 1 mark to make a total of 100 marks (for Part I and Part II). Part I include questions on English language and general knowledge. Syllabus for Part II will have the following topics.
- Commercial Law
- Constitutional law
- Contract and Specific Relief Law
- Environmental Law
- IPC
- Jurisprudence
- Law of Limitation
- Law of Torts
- Public International Law
- Sales of Goods Act
Syllabus for Part III is also based on above mentioned topics. But the questions asked in this part are of subjective type. There will be 5 questions each carrying 8 marks. Part IV contains questions on legal reasoning for 30 marks. Those who get through the written exam will be short listed for group discussion. 10 marks will be awarded for GD section and 20 marks for viva voce.
Application procedure for National Law Institute Common Admission Test
Application form along with prospectus can be obtained either from the admission counter or from the official web portal of the institute. Application fee for collecting the same is Rs. 300/-.. It can also be collected via postal method by paying Rs. 350/-.
Application form complete in all respects must reach the office of the Registrar, Indian Law Institute, before the last date. It must be accompanied with a Demand Draft of Rs. 800/-. This fee is meant to cover the processing charges of the entrance exam. Those who have downloaded the application form from the institute website must attach a DD of Rs. 1100/-.
Application can also be forwarded through online method, via the official portal of the institution. In that case, candidate should remit the application fee through online payment gateway. Net banking or Debit/Credit card can be used for the purpose.
