National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) formerly known as DOEACC Center, Calicut offers M.Tech programs in streams of Embedded Systems (ES) and Electronics Design Technology (EDT). Engineering graduates in streams like Electronics and Communication, Electrical and Electronics, and Electronics and Instrumentation are eligible to apply. Admission is offered on the basis of GATE score.

Eligibility Criteria for M.Tech Courses in NIELIT

Indian nationals having completed their B.Tech degree are eligible to apply. The degree must be obtained from an institution recognized by the University of Calicut and the All India Council for Technical Education. Candidates should possess a minimum of 55% marks in the qualifying examination. In case of SC/ST candidates a pass in engineering degree is enough for admission to the course.

Those who have passed AMIE/AMIETE examination in Electronics stream are also eligible to apply for this course. Such candidates must possess minimum marks of 55% for the section B in AMIE/AMIETE examination. They must also have at least 3 year professional experience in the subject selected for specialization.

Final year engineering graduates possessing the required qualifications are also eligible to apply, provided they can submit valid proof at the time of counseling/admission. Specific eligibility for two M.Tech courses is given below.

For M.Tech in Embedded Systems (ES)

Engineering degree holders in any of the following streams can seek admission to M.Tech in Embedded Systems (ES).

  • Electronics and Communication
  • Electrical and Electronics
  • Applied Electronics and Instrumentation
  • Instrumentation and Control
  • Electronics and Instrumentation
  • Electronics
  • Computer Science
  • Computer Science and Engineering
  • Information Technology
  • Biomedical Engineering
  • Electronics and Biomedical Engineering
  • Biomedical Instrumentation Engineering

For M.Tech in Electronics Design Technology (EDT)

Engineering degree holders in any of the following streams can have admission to M.Tech in Electronics Design Technology (EDT).

  • Electronics Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Instrumentation Engineering

Admission Procedure for M.Tech courses in NIELIT

Admissions to M.Tech courses in NIELIT are done primarily on the basis of GATE score. Non GATE candidates as well as sponsored category candidates can also look for admission to the course. Non GATE candidates will only be considered only after admitting candidates on the basis of valid GATE score. Such seats will be allotted only for natives of Kerala state.

GATE score is not mandatory in case of sponsored candidates.  Three year professional experience from any reputed public/private sector organization is required for admission. Eligible candidates having passed AMIE/AMIETE examination can also expect selection to the course on the basis of GATE score.

Selected candidates can pursue the course by paying Rs. 45,000/- as semester fees. Other fees like University affiliation fee, laboratory tuition fee, etc are also applicable.
