Eligibility Requirements for DASA 2012-2013

DASA (Direct Admission of Students Abroad) is a scheme introduced by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. The scheme is meant for admission to undergraduate engineering programs in Centrally Funded Institutions like NIT and IIT.  Admissions are offered for foreign nationals and Indian students studying outside the country. HSC passed candidates with a minimum of 60% marks and enough SAT score are only eligible for DASA.

Educational Qualifications for DASA 2012-2013

Those candidates who have passed the senior secondary or HSC examination are eligible. HSC course must be completed in any stream of education and should be recognized by the Association of Indian Universities. Such candidates must have studied Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects and any one of the following as optional subjects.

  • Chemistry
  • Computer Science
  • Bio-Technology
  • Biology

Required HSC qualification must be obtained with a minimum of 60% marks. Those appearing for the qualifying examination in the present year with these many qualifications are also considered eligible.

Besides the qualifications mentioned above, eligible candidate must have a valid SAT score. They need to score at least 1440 marks in SAT (Maths level II, Physics and Chemistry).

Age Qualifications and Nationality for DASA 2012-2013

Age of the candidate must be less than 25 years. This must match with the records in SSC certificate or any other equivalent certificate issued by the Government authorities.

Indian Nationals studying abroad with a minimum of two academic years of education in a foreign country are eligible for DASA. Such candidates must have passed the qualifying examination from abroad only. Foreign nationals as well as persons of Indian basis studying in any country (including India) can also apply.

Application for DASA can be submitted through online method only. Application fee can be submitted through any of the methods like SWIFT transfer or e-transfer or demand draft. The process of application starts with the registration process, in which an account will be created using choosing a username and password. Username, applicant ID and password can be used for logging the account again.

Once the account is created, candidate can start filling the application form. Filled up applications can be submitted after recheck. After that, the print out copy of the submitted application form must be sent to the concerned address by incorporating the supporting documents. Copy of candidate’s passport, copy of mark sheets, age proof, proof for fee payment, etc must be submitted along with the application form. All these documents must reach the authority before deadline date.
