Tamilnadu College of Engineering (TCNE) is an AICTE approved institution running under the sponsorship of Tamilnadu Technical Education Foundation. The institution offers B.E courses in a variety of subjects like Mechanical Engineering, Information Technology, Electrical and Electronics Engineering. M.E courses are offered in the subjects of structural engineering and computer and communication engineering. Admission to the courses is done on the basis of entrance exams such as TNEA, TANCET, AIEEE/ISEET and CAT.

Those who have passed HSC course from any of the recognized University are eligible for B.Tech/B.E course. Such students must have pursued HSC with science as the subject area of specialization. Admissions are done on the basis of candidate’s performance in entrance test like TNEA or AIEEE. These exams are conducted in objective model covering questions on Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Certain seats are reserved for management quota admissions also.
TANCET score acts as the basis for admission to all the PG level programs. Candidates need to have at least 50% marks in the qualifying examination for admission. TANCET for M.E admissions are conducted for time duration of 2 hours. There will be three parts for the entrance test. In the first section, there will be 30 questions on engineering mathematics. Second section is based on basic engineering and sciences, which includes a total of 45 questions. Part III is based on the subject area of specialization. GATE score is also considered for selecting candidates to M.E course.
Admission to MBA and MCA courses are done on the basis of TANCET exam (conducted for each of the program separately). Mathematical problems, data sufficiency, verbal ability, data analysis and comprehension are the main headings that form the syllabus for TANCET MBA. Questions asked for TANCET MCA will be from topics like Quantitative Ability, Analytical reasoning, Logical reasoning, Computer awareness, Verbal ability and Basic Science. CAT score and AIMCET score are also considered for admission to MBA and MCA program respectively.
