Jamia Millia Islamia University admits candidates who have obtained 2^nd class in Masters Degree with 55% marks from a recognized University to Doctor of Philosophy programme. Final selection is based on Entrance Test and Interview conducted by the University.  Candidates who have obtained 50% aggregate marks and qualified the Entrance test will qualify for Interview. Ph.D candidates should submit all relevant documents at the time of admission.

Eligibility criteria for Ph.D admission in Jamia Millia Islamia

Applicant should possess 2^nd class in Masters Degree from a University (minimum 55% marks). Otherwise, they should have degree which should be recognized by University/ its equivalent in the concerned subject in which an applicant is going to pursue the course of research or any subject allied thereto.

Admission Procedure for Ph.D in Jamia Millia Islamia

Final selection of candidates eligible for admission is done on the basis of Entrance Test and Interview. Application form for Ph.D programme admission can be downloaded from University website. Application form needs to be submitted at the centre along with Rs.1000/- DD which should be drawn in favor of  ‘The Registrar, Jamia Millia Islamia’ and payable at New Delhi/ Delhi. Applicants eligible to attend the Entrance Test will be notified on the concerned Faculty/ Cemtr/ Departments notice board along with university’s website.

Following candidates are exempted from attending Ph.D programmes Entrance test;

• Candidates who qualify the examination of UGC/ JRF/ CSIR NET or equivalent examination which should be conducted by any recognized Governmental Institute/ Agency/ Department/ SLET or valid GATE score or should successfully complete recognized University/Institutes regular M. Phil programme.
• Candidates who are sponsored by ICCR
• Any recognized institutions/colleges/universities Teacher Fellowship holders. Such candidates should provide No Objection Certificate issued by competent employing authority.

The exempted candidates should submit all prescribed proof during the time of application form submission for taking admissions to Ph.D programme in Jamia Millia Islamia. These candidates must follow all other process related to Ph.D admission and fulfill all requirements prescribed by Ph.D Ordinance. In order to attend Interview a candidate should obtain 50% aggregate marks and in Entrance test (Part A and Part B separately). Exempted candidates will also be eligible for Interview. During the time of Ph.D admission students should submit following documents;

• Duly signed synopsis
• Candidates attested photograph
• Local residential address proof
• Attested copy of PG degree, UG degree and Matriculation (for date of birth verification)
• Attested copy of PG mark sheet (for verifying whether candidates has obtained 55% marks)
• Caste Certificate copy by reserved category students
• Original Character Certificate
• Original Migration Certificate
• Employed candidates should provide employer’s No Objection Certificate
• Foreign students should submit research Visa
• Co-supervisor’s consent letter stating candidate’s specialization field along with proper and full correspondence address.
• Un-employed candidates have to provide an Undertaking attested by Oath Commissioner or Notary Public in Non-Judicial Stamp Paper (of Rs. 10/-)
