Details of Swiss Government Excellence Scholarship
Indian students pursuing Ph.D degree in selected institutes of Switzerland can apply for Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships. This Swiss Government is offering this scholarship for meritorious students. Master degree or equivalent, recognized by the Swiss University is the basic qualification required. Selected students are given with a monthly stipend of 1920 Swiss Francs, swiss health insurance, tuition fee waiver, air fare payment, and half-fare for public transportation (for 1 year).
Overview of Swiss Government Excellence Scholarship
Indian students pursuing Ph.D degree in selected institutes in Switzerland can have the benefits of Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships. Interested candidates satisfying the eligibility requirements can submit applications for the academic year 2014-15 till November 2013. Meritorious students with financial difficulties can make use of this scholarship scheme. Duration of the scholarship is 3 years. Students pursuing doctorate degree in the following institutes can apply for this scholarship.

- University of Bern
- University of Fribourg
- University of Geneva
- University of Lausanne
- University of Lucerne
- University of Lugano
- University of Neuchâtel
- University of St. Gallen
- University of Zurich
Those who got admission in any of the two federal institutes of technology, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL) or Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETHZ) are also eligible for scholarship. Indian students who got admission to any of the teaching and research institutes mentioned below are offered with scholarship.

- Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies (IHEID)
- Institute universitaire Kurt Bösch
Eligibility Criteria for Swiss Government Excellence Scholarship
Master degree or equivalent recognized by the Swiss University is the basic qualification required. Those who are staying in Switzerland for more than one year are not eligible to apply for this scholarship. Eligible candidate must submit the research proposal with the proposed time of completion. They should present a letter from their research guide, who must be one of the professors from the selected University.
Application Process for Swiss Government Excellence Scholarship
Application form can be collected from the Swiss Embassy in New Delhi. Completely filled application form must be submitted with the following details.
- Copy of passport
- A complete research proposal (with less than five pages)
- A motivation letter
- Health certificate
- Recommendation letters – 2 numbers
- Resume
- University certificate copies
Swiss Government Excellence Scholarship is helping hand for needy students who would like to Ph.D course outside India.
