The university has a credit system for the Bachelor’s Degree Programme in Chemistry. Including all learning activities each credit is equivalent to 30 hours of study. In this way 120 hours of study are involved in a four credit system and 240 hours for eight credit courses. A student needs to earn 96 credits in a period of 3 to 6 years, to complete the programme successfully, but a student is not allowed to earn more than 32 credits in a year.

The evaluation process has two parts- throughout assessment by assessments and term end examinations. Students are required to pass in both of these examinations. The tern end examination carries a weightage of 70%.

To obtain B.Sc (Major) Degree in Chemistry, elective courses (CHE-01 to CHE-12(L)) should be completed. The total credits are 40.

The term end exam is conducted every year in June and December.

The exam is of duration of two hours. The maximum marks can be either 50 or 100. The questions are all conventional types. They can be objective as well as essay type. The questions are distributed evenly throughout the syllabus.

The topics include Atoms and Molecules (CHE-01), Inorganic Chemistry (CHE-02), Organic Chemistry (CHE-05).
