In the year 1974, the foundation of Anna University was laid in the form of a survey school. Later in the year 1859, it was raised to the status of college and in the year 1978, the college was given the status of a university. The university boats of a great industry-institute links with renowned companies and institutes worldwide. It is one of the oldest colleges in India and introduced B.E. course in Mechanical Engineering in 1894. In 1930 the department of Electrical Engineering was opened. The institute’s computer centre, being one of the oldest ones in south India, was established in the year 1963. The university also offers a bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. The exam is held by the university. The pattern of the exam is given below:

The university examination carries a total of 100 marks and the time duration is 3 hours. All the questions are compulsory. The paper has two parts. Part A carries 20 marks and part B carries 80 marks. Part A has 10 questions of 2 marks each. Part B has 5 questions of 16 marks each. There is no overall choice but internal choices are there in the second part, in each of the questions.
