Alagappa University, Karaikudi
The year 2009-2010 is the silver jubilee year for the Alagappa University in Karaikudi. The University is built over a large campus of 420 acres area supported by latest technologies and modern facilities for the students. The university was accredited as an A grade university by NAAC. The establishment of the University was with the major aim of research in fostering. The UGC recognized the university and is serving the country for a long time.
The university offers various courses in under graduate, post graduate and M.Phil level. The departments of studies in the college which include Department of computer science and engineering, Alagappa Institute of Management, Department of Tamil, Department of English, centre of Nehru studies, college of education, Directorate of Distant education etc.
The University offers various facilities for its students like the central Library which was established in the year 1990 supporting all the courses offered by the university which is maintained by a proper library management system in the university campus. The University has workshop cum instrumentation centre, Health care centre which is available every time for the students, hostel services with 3 well furnished hostels. There are 2 Hostels for male students and one for the female candidates. The hostels support separate telephone facilities and transport system for the students to contact and travel to various departments. Other facilities include the canteen, cooperative stores, employment cell, telecom centre, reprographic facility etc.
The students who wish to get admitted in any course offered by the university can apply to the university itself by just completely and filling up an application form available in the university campus. The student can also seek admission by directly applying in the study centre of the university. The students also need to submit certain filled in documents and show originals for verification purposes to the university person.
