Anna University M.Sc. (Economics) & M.Sc. (Financial Economics) Entrance Exam 2012
Anna University is one of the most reputed Universities in the country which offers courses related to different subject areas. Anna University conducts an entrance exam for admission to the courses, M.Sc economics and M.Sc applied Economics. This is basically a combined entrance examination which is mainly conducted for the above mentioned courses. The syllabus related to this exam for both the subjects are same. The candidates who clear this exam can opt for any of the two subjects which are mentioned above. The candidates will be mainly selected based on their score in the entrance examination.
Structure of Anna University M.Sc. (Economics) & M.Sc. (Financial Economics) Entrance Exam
The structure of the Anna University M.Sc. (Economics) & M.Sc. (Financial Economics) Entrance Exam will mainly involve three main sections. There will be a total of 40 questions involved in this examination. This will be as follows –
Section –A - Basic mathematics and statistics – There will be around 10 questions from this section.
Section – B - Advance Mathematics and Statistics – There will be around 15 questions from this section.
Section – C - General Economics – There will be around 15 questions involved in this section.
The whole questions will be generally objective or multiple choice questions. The candidates will be given some options with the questions as answers. The candidates have to choose one option as answer. There will be negative marking for the wrong answer. If the candidates leave any question unanswered no marks will be deducted for it. If the candidates attempts or marks more than one option as answer, it will not be considered for marking.

Eligibility Criteria?
The candidates should have different eligibility criteria for applying to the above mentioned M.Sc programs in different subjects even though the entrance exam and the syllabus for the examinations are same.
In order to apply for the M.Sc (Economics), the candidates should have a B.Sc in (Mathematics/ Statistics/ Computer Science/ Physics) etc. The candidates should also score at least 55% marks in the graduation level. Those who have completed the B.A Economics /B.Com/ BBA are also eligible to apply provided they also score at least 55% of marks in the graduation with mathematics as the major subject in the 12th class level also.
In order to apply for the M.Sc (Financial Economics) the candidates should have completed the B.Sc. with Mathematics as the major or optional subjects. They should have secured at least 50% marks in the graduation level also. Apart from this, those who have completed the B.Sc Economics/ B.A Economics/ B.Com/ B.B.M/ B.B.A are also eligible, provided they also score around 50% marks in the graduation level.
How to Apply?
The candidates can obtain the application forms in person from the examination office of the Anna University, Chennai by paying the required DD amount. The candidates should pay Rs.600 as the DD amount. Those who belong to the reserved categories such as SC/ST etc are allowed relaxations and should pay only Rs.300 as the DD amount. The candidates can also download and take the print out of the application form from the official website of the Anna University. The candidates can fill in the application forms along with the required DD amount of Rs.600 (Rs. 300 in case of SC/ST candidates) and other documents to the registration office. The candidates who are having reservations should submit the copy of Permanent Community Certificate in Card Format along with the application form.
How to Fill the Form?
The candidates should fill the application forms in detail by carefully giving each and every detail. The candidates should enter the details regarding the Demand draft number etc carefully without any fault. The candidates should enter the full name as per the birth certificate. While entering the address it should be correct with correct pin code and all for further communication. The candidates are required to check in each and every detail at least two times before submitting the applications. This will help to reduce the chances of mistakes.
