Bengal Fine Arts College is an under graduation college for visual arts and it is affiliated to Indira Kala Sangit University located at Khairagarh. The courses offered by the college are recognized by University Grants Commission Act 12 (B) and 2 (f). Initially, the efforts of the college authorities to get affiliation from West Bengal Government and Rabindra Bharati University were rejected and finally in the year 1996, the Indira Kala Sangit University took the college under its jurisdiction.

Courses Offered:

As mentioned earlier, the college is an under graduation college for visual arts. So, it is offering Bachelor of Fine Arts in painting and sculpture. The former course was introduced in the year 1998, while the later course was introduced in 1999. The college is also planning introduce courses like drama percussion, dance, vocal music and instrumental music under the faculty of performing arts.

Special Programmes:

In addition to the regular educational courses, the college is also conducting some activities like blood donation camp, cultural functions, outdoor study, film/video shows, exhibitions, workshops and seminars for improving the overall performance and skills of students.

Infrastructure:

To make the process of learning and teaching easier and effective the college has provided its classrooms with adequate draperies, modeling tools, platforms, drawing tools & tables, easels, charts, slide projector, video cassettes, etc…The library of the college is provided with a number of books on arts, film projector and arts & culture video cassettes. The computer center of the college is provided with six computers with a dial-up internet connection of 128 Kbps.

The campus of the college has a built-in area of 800 square meter and a game area of 800 square meter.
