Biophysics, as the name suggests is the physics as applied to biological world. The structure and function of biological cells, molecules and organisms are studied using methods of physics. Biophysics is the science that develops theories and methods of physics in order to investigate biological problems.

Eligibility

For pursuing a bachelor’s degree in biophysics, the candidate should have appeared for the higher secondary school certificate exam from a recognized board. The candidate must have physics, chemistry and biology in their higher secondary school. The minimum percentage required for getting admission to a bachelor’s in science in biophysics is generally 50%. But the eligibility percentage may vary from university to university.

Course Outlook:

B.Sc in Biophysics is a three year full time course. The whole course is divided into six semesters of six month duration each. The candidate needs to pass the exam at the end of each semester in order to get promoted to the next semester. In the first year, the candidate is taught the basic concepts of physics, chemistry and biology. First year is the foundation year for the candidate. In the second year, more specific subject related topics are taught. More emphasis is given on practical training. Third year is the most important year of study as the student is given industrial training and a project work.

Job Prospects:

Due to a variety of traits gained by the candidate, the individual have the option of getting a job in a variety of fields. The candidate may get into research or instrument development or, even into educational field.
