The history of Delhi Technical University which was formerly known as the Delhi College of Engineering and Delhi Polytechnic much before that has a long history of about 69 years since it came into existence the very first time in the year of 1941. It was late till 1952 that it got associated to the University of Delhi to impart recognized degrees. Giving birth to multiple academic ventures of Delhi like SPA, College of Arts and FMS etc, DCE is considered to be a mother to all.
But Delhi Technical University, from the time it was established and was functional, it has become a leading source of industry to hire people who are much trained and pose exquisite expertise in the technical areas. This institution has lead itself to be the top most institution playing important role towards the technical improvement, reforming, modernizing of India and its technical human resource. Equipped with the ever evolving, advanced, and brilliant infrastructure, the institute is at the top in the domain of imparting technical know how not only in India but across the globe.
In the domain of courses, the institution courses are segregated as:
• Bachelor of Engineering: this include the BE courses in the trades of electronics and telecommunication, electrical, computer science, mechanical, civil, production and industry, environmental, polymer and chemical, information technology and biotechnology.
• Bachelor of Technology: this program has only 4 trades i.e. civil, electrical, and mechanical and electronics & telecommunication. It has a different schedule from the previous courses.
• Masters of Technology: this is the advanced post graduate degrees in the special areas of the individual trades of BE programs leaving a few.
• Master of Science: it is a 3 year course given in the trade of applied physics.
• Doctor of Philosophy: this is special course for super specialization in technology for scholars for duration of 4 years. It too has different trades including the applied fields of mathematics, chemistry and physics and other engineering trades.
DTU now admits all its intake from the standard central examination of AIEEE or the All India Engineering Entrance Examination conducted by CBSE besides its own individual test conducted before.
