Details on NTPI PGDC CET
National Power Training Institute (NPTI) offers admission to Post Graduate Diploma in Thermal Power Plant Engineering, through a national level entrance test. Engineering graduates from streams of Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, etc are eligible to attend the test. General Aptitude, General Engineering and Technical knowledge of the candidate are basically evaluated via this CET. Those who get through the test should undergo a counseling process to confirm final selection.
Eligibility Requirement for NTPI PGDC CET
B.Tech / B.E degree holders (or equivalent) are eligible to attend PGDC CET held by NTPC. Qualifying degree must be obtained in any of the following streams i.e.:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Electronics Engineering
- Power Engineering
- Control & Instrumentation Engineering
Sponsored Graduate Engineers with 60% marks in qualifying exam and with at least 1-year work experience, can also apply.
Exam Pattern of NTPI PGDC CET
There will be a total of 180 questions for this objective model test. Each question carries 2 marks. Negative marking is there in this exam so the candidate has to avoid guesswork and random marking. ½ mark is reduced for each wrong answer. Time allotted for the completion of the test is 150 minutes. There will be 3 sections for the entrance test. General Aptitude section covers topics on
- Basic mathematics
- Basic Science
- General English
- Analytical Reasoning
- Data interpretation
Second section comprises topics on General Engineering. Third section covers questions on Technical knowledge, according to the specialization paper opted in qualifying exam. Technical Knowledge section is grouped under 3 main heads from which applicant can select one among them.

Application Procedure of NTPI PGDC CET
Applications for NTPI PGDC CET can be forwarded through the official website of NTPI such as www.nptinagpur.com, www.npti.in
Registration fee for applying the test is Rs.800/- . The amount must be paid in the form of Demand Draft taken in the name of ‘NPTI Nagpur’ and payable at Nagpur. On successful completion of application process, a unique ID will be generated by the system, which must be kept safe for future reference. Apart from this, the hard copy of the application form must be sent to the address of the Principal Director, NTPI. Other necessary documents that need to be submitted along with the application include 2-passport size photograph, Demand Draft, etc. Shortlisted candidates will be intimated about the time and venue of exam through E-mail.
