Difference between Radiologist and X-Ray Technician
Radiologist is a person who uses the process of radiology in treating diseases. It is a technique by which diseases within the body are diagnosed with the help of visual images. They uses various processes like computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging and positron emission tomography for scanning a human body.
X-ray Tech is a person, whose main responsibility includes handling the x-ray machine, positioning the patients for taking x-ray and to obtain valuable diagnostic data to assist doctors. They perform the tasks of loading, fixing and developing x-ray films. They work closely with radiologist to diagnose the disease using scanning techniques. The course to be undergone by an X-ray Tech gives exposure to various medical courses including anatomy, pathology, physiology and biology.

The person who wants to become a Radiologist has to undergo a graduate level or a diploma course in radiology. They can also go for higher studies in radiology as well as do some certifications which will help him to be a good radiologist. There are a lot of job opportunities awaiting him once he becomes a radiologist. He can get placed in Government as well as Private Hospitals or else he can do individual practice. The person who wants to become an X-ray Tech should have a Bachelor’s degree or an associate degree in this field. There are also certification programs available which qualifies a person to be an X-ray Tech. The main requirement to be an X-ray Tech is good training of handling the equipments needed to take x-ray. There are a lot of job opportunities available for them in medical field. They can assist doctors in various hospitals. The salary packages offered for an X-ray Tech is really good.
Key difference between Radiologist and X ray Tech
The Radiologist needs a degree in radiology whereas an X-ray Tech needs training for handling the equipment more than possessing a degree in the field. The Radiologist diagnoses disease with the help of an x-ray whereas X-ray Tech assists a doctor in diagnosing the disease with the handling of x-ray equipment. The depth of knowledge acquired by a Radiologist and X-ray Technician in the field is different. The salary packages offered for a Radiologist and X-ray Technician is different. A Radiologist might draw a higher salary than a X-ray Technician.
