Difference between Xavier Admission Test (XAT) and Management Aptitude Test (MAT)
MBA or Master in Business Application is the popular courses today. Students from different arrays are pursuing this course as it has lots of potentials and can help in career development. Doing MBA in a recognized college is very important. Companies only want candidates who are from good colleges. Therefore MBA aspirants work hard to secure a seat in a reputed MBA institute. Most of the institute take CAT and MAT entrance exam. There are some colleges like XLRI who conduct their own exam for selecting candidates for MBA admission.
Xavier Admission Test
The Xavier Admission Test (XAT) entrance is carried out by the Xavier Labor Relations Institute (XLRI) Jamshedpur School of Management. This is one of the most accepted National levels Admission test amongst the Master of Business Administration (MBA) candidates seeking admission to many other reputed top business schools in India. Applications are invited by the XLRI Jamshedpur for XAT every academic year for a variety of XLRI programs.
Management Aptitude Test
MAT is the MBA entrance test conducted country-wide by the Centre for Management Services (CMS) of All India Management Association (AIMA). MAT has been recognized by the Government of India as a National level Entrance Test. Institutes offering recognized PG programmes in management and allied fields can participate in MAT. The exam is conducted in all major cities in the country and leading cities abroad. MAT Score is necessary for admission into Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) / equivalent programmes offered by AIMA or other Management Institutes (MIs) who participate in it. All India Management Aptitude Testing Service (AIMATS), New Delhi conducts this test. It is conducted on a countrywide basis every year in the months of February, May, September and December.
Key differentiators between XAT and MAT
All management institutes that take part in MAT are either AICTE (All Indian Council for Technical Education) accepted or associated to universities. Graduates from any discipline from a recognized university are considered qualified for appearing the MAT exam. Final year degree course students can also apply. There is no age limit specified. Work experience is also not necessary. XAT is a National levels entrance test among conducted by Xavier Labor Research Institute, Jamshedpur (XLRI) for the admission to different programs offered by XLRI. XAT score is also used by more than 60 other Management Institutes for Admission like the LIBA (Loyola Institute of Business Administration), Chennai, Xavier Institute of Management and Entrepreneurship (XIME), Bangalore, Xavier Institute of Management (XIM) etc.
