Job becomes an important need in modern man’s life, for both men and women. Early days having a job is not a necessary thing; people prefer to study for gaining knowledge and to explore the new areas of hidden world. For them job is a secondary or a tertiary need. But today a job is the basic motivation behind perusing any kind of education. When a child is started learning, he or she might have his/her ambitions like to become doctor, Engineer, Manager etc. This is a reason why we are seeing more and more professional courses are introduced in the education scenario of the country.  

There may be a number of reasons behind this change, the major one is the world wide changing environment and the increasing competition. The large number of population and increasing cost of leaving also contributed to the increasing demand of the job. The technical innovations offered all sort of facilities and comfort to human life, but most of these services and products are a little costlier for a common man. So as to enjoy these we need the support from a high paying job.

That is why after the tenth or plus two classes the students shift their focus towards the professional programs. In those professional courses today the engineering program attracts the majority of our youths. There are certain reasons for that, the number of seats available is comparatively higher than any other professional courses and also there are plenty of opportunities are available to the engineering graduates. The major advantage of the engineering student is that of the Campus placements. The campus placements are the doors for the students to have a job straight after college.

The placement World for the Engineers….

The present environment shows positive attitude towards the campus placements. The post recession period is contributing a lot in creating vacancies and opening the new doors of expansion for the MNCs. The different sectors like IT, Infrastructure, Automobiles are becoming a reason for the Engineering graduates to smile. Today the giants are going for a massive hiring from the same campus itself. Since most of the companies are keen to take the new opportunities to expand their business talent pooling and acquisition and retention become an important concept for them.

The major companies are published their budgets and projections. The expansion plans supports a massive recruitment process and the campuses are the major recruitment area for the corporate giants. Tata Consultancy Services lately explained that they taken around twenty five thousand fresh engineering graduates in this fiscal year and planning to acquire around forty thousand nest financial year. Cognizant recently hired 1,643 engineering students from different streams from the VIT University alone and Accenture hired around 1,309 from the Amity University and these companies are looking for more talents in different fields of Engineering.

But before attending a placement process there are some points the engineers must remember. Here are certain things to know,

Know Your Offers!!!

It is very important to understand the trends and about the offer making a decision on it. The companies will provide the information regarding the designation and a small job description a week or a month before they conduct the placement drives. The students will get the information from your college placement cell and you can clear your doubts before the selection process held.

The  most common offer the companies were made is the Junior engineer trainee, Jr. Software Engineer trainee etc. and also put into eh verity of operations areas including the Network support, Testing, R&D, A&D, Security, Program delivery and so on. There is a huge opening are coming from the offshoring, Data Warehousing and business Intelligence,  Business Process Outsousing and Information  Technology Infrastructure management fuctions, ITES, Analytics and Testing. The operators need skilled professional in every field and thus it is going to be a great year for the fresher.

These campus offers are of many types, some demand you have to sign a bond and some are not making it mandatory. If you signed a bond, you have to pay back a fixed amount if you leave the company before the bond period. This is a comp off for the amount that companies spend on you as part of the training and induction process. Companies like Wipro, HCL etc. are finding this a good practice were as Cognize, Accenture were not.

Campus Placement: The Selection

There will be some criteria that every company put for finding the right talents. The companies like infosys put 65% marks in 10th, plus two and 68% in the engineering streams. TCS made it 60% and that of Accenture also. These are the eligibility criterion for attending the placement drive conducted by these organizations.

The selection process varies from organizations to organizations. Normally there is a common format Written test, GD and final interview. The written test evaluates the aptitude and subject knowledge of the students while the GD evaluates the analytical and communicative skills of the candidates. The Interview round normally constitute the HR and technical round. The HR round will analyze you as a person and that of the technical round evaluate your knowledge in eth Domain.

There is a option called ‘Toppers-Shop’ that offer the top performers in the academics can directly taken the GD and Interview round. The corporate like HCL and TCS following these practices and other companies have there own signature in selecting a right candidates.

The Skills Looking For….

The students are required to have certain skills which are making your paths into the corporate giants. The important fact is the right attitude. By this they meant to have the readiness to learn, take challenges and good technical knowledge. They also have good basics, knowledge in fundamentals and should have a good proficiency in the communication part also.

The students are also expected to have a good academic support starting from the school level. The technical knowledge on Java, CISCO and dot net etc. are added advantage while opting for the It sector. The student must also know about the current scenario of the industry and should have a personal opinion on each happening. Here is the good time for you to start up your career and the opportunities are in front of you. You have to choose the right one for you and put some effort to make your path clear….
