I completed diploma course in music from Akhila Gandharba Biswa Vidyalaya Mandalay, Mumbai university. Is it equal with graduation? and may I apply for civil service exams?..

No, according to the eligibility criteria of the UGC :

A candidate shall be deemed as graduate if

* He has completed his education from any recognized university according to the scheme of 10+2+3.

* He has attained the age of 21 years at least.

Since the diploma in Music is of 2 years and for that matter any kind of diploma is not to be deemed as graduation degree.

For the Civil Services :

According to the eligibility criteria released by the UPSC :

* The candidate should be a citizen of India.

* The candidate should have completed graduation through any stream under the scheme of 10+2+3 at least form a recognized university.

* The candidate should be of 21 years at least at the time of application.

* The candidate should be physically and medically fit.

So, no matter which graduation degree you pursue, you will be eligible for the CSE.

No, it is not equivalent to any graduation programme according to UGC guidelines. It is just a diploma qualification in musical instrument playing.

Hence, if you want to get a degree then you must spend at least 3 years of studies at a UGC recognized university. Then you will be eligible for civil services exam.

No, Diploma course is not equivalent to graduation degree. Diploma candidates are not eligible for Civil Service Exam.

If you have completed graduation in any discipline from a recognized university, then you are eligible for Civil Service exam.

Age Criteria:

For General: 21 to 32 years
For OBC: 21 to 35 years
For SC/ST: 21 to 37 years

No. of Attempts:

For General: 5
For OBC: 9
For SC/ST: No Restriction

Selection process for Civil Service exam:

1)Preliminary test
2)Mains exam
3)Personal interview
