VAO (Village Administrative Officer) Exam:
This exam is conducted by TNPSC

Eligiblity Criteria:The minimum eligible age for the VAO exam is 21 years and maximum age limit is 30 years.
For candidates belonging to SC/ST/ MBC/OBC, the maximum age limit is 40 years.

VAO exam was conducted on 20th February 2011.
Results of VAO 2011 will be released on June 2011.

Village Administrative Officer is an exam conducted by Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission. Usually TNPSC will notify in papers and other employment newsletters for VAO exams. There are reservations for SC, ST, Woman, Destitute Widow and then general seats. Vacancies will be usally furnished for each district. You can get those details in TNPSC website. Tests are having objective type questions and it will have questions to test general knowledge, mental ability and english language. SSLC standard questions will be mostly asked in this exam. I doubt that 2010 exams were in April. Please check the PSC website to find more details on this.

It was submitted that VAOs should be conversant with the practices in villages and only those with rural background would be more suitable than city students.

People, who were in the waiting list of the employment exchanges for over 15 years would have no chance with the current pattern of examinations and there would be inequality and the process of appointing candidates through it offended the rights to equality.
he Selection will be made on the basis of the marks obtained in the Written
Examination (Objective Type) and the option of the Districts exercised by
the candidates following the rule of reservation of appointments for
Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Castes(Arunthathiyars), Schedule Tribes,
Most Backward Classes / Denotified Communities, Backward Classes and 2
Backward Classes (Muslims) 30% reservation of vacancies for women and
5% of vacancies for Ex-Servicemen, for each District separately.

VAO stands for Village Administrative Officer.

You can apply for VAO exam.

It is conducted by TNPSC (Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission ).

Eligibility criteria for this exam :-

1] Age limit :-

>> The age limit of the candidate must be between 22 to 30 years.

>> There is also a relaxation provided to SC/ ST , MBCs/ DCs , BCs, BCM and destitute widows of all castes,

2] Educational Qualifications :-

The candidate must be passed his/ her graduation from any recognized university.

Selection procedure for this exam :-

Written test :-

It is objective type questions exam.

Exam Pattern :-

1] General Knowledge :- 100 marks

2] General English :- 100 marks

3] General Tamil :- 100 marks

For selection in VAO, the candidate must get 90 marks.
