General candidates have got 4 attempts while OBC candidates get 7 and SC/ST there is no limit for no. of attempts. You should be under the age limit of 21 to 30
years.
There is not going to be any change as far as no. of attempts is considered.
Though you can keep checking at http://www.upsc.gov.in
You need a lot of hard work and patience to crack this exam so be prepared for it.

there are many exams which are conducted by UPSC every year. such as IAS IES IPS etc etc,
the age limit for this exams are 21-30, there are 5 & 3 years of age relaxation for SC\ST candidates & OBC candidates respectively ,.
no. of attempts-

4 for general candididates

7 for OBC candidates

no such restriction for SC\ST candidates.

-eligibility criteria for the civil service exam is as follows

-the minimum age requirement for appearing civil service exam is 21 years and the upper age limit to give this exam is 30 years.

-the minimum requirement is graduation in any discipline from a recognized Indian university or an equivalent academic qualification .

-all candidates are allowed 4 attempts . there is a relaxation for SC/ST candidates on the number of attempts , if they are otherwise eligible.

this is the eligibility criteria for the civil service examinations. hope you get satisfied with this information.

THANKS

To appear within the limit of 4 number of attempts, is somehow fair but unjustified as there are many number of candidates from the poverty and underprivileged sections among the status of General candidates with a full grown talents, and unable to utilized due to weak in the financial and economic streangth. the limit must be considered for extension for 6 times by the UPSC BOARD.

Hi,

I have a doubt here. When filling the prelims application form i mentioned that i belong to OBC category as my father`s income was less than 450,000. But after few days if filling the form (after the last date of filling the form) i came to know that for govenrment employees (my father is a retired govt officer), only their position is considered for determining if you belong to OBC creamy/non creamy layer. My father was recuited as a class II officer and got promoted to Class I before he turned 40. So as per the rule i don`t belong to the non creamy layer. So i wanted to change my application form but UPSC doesnot allow it. My question is if i clear the prelims with marks greater then the general cutoff marks will i be able to change the details in the main application form?

Regards,
samrat
