It all depends on the minimum percentage required by various engineering exams.
In IIT 60% marks are required whereas in AIEEE 55% marks are required so if your overall marks is 60% or greater than you are eligible for various entrance exams. But for getting admission in these colleges you have to clear these then only you can get admission.
Nowadays there are some colleges which gives admission on the basis of 12th %.
But for reputed colleges you have to clear entrance exams conducted at various levels.

dear
the eligibility criteria for iit and AIEEE are as following:-

for IIT.
Minimum Percentage of Marks in QE Candidates belonging to GE, OBC and DS categories must secure at least 60% marks in aggregate in their QE. Whereas, those belonging to SC, ST and PD categories must secure at least 55% marks in aggregate in the QE.

forAIEEE
The minimum academic qualification for appearing in AIEEE 2011 is that the candidate must have passed in final examination of 10+2 (Class XII) or its equivalent referred to as the qualifying examination with 50% marks for general category candidates and 40% marks for SC/ST/OBC/PH category candidates.

best of luck.

Well, its only the marks of PCM that are considered.

You need to mention the aggregate of all subjects combined together.

That is, it is calculated on the best of 5 subjects(Incase you have opted for 6 subjects).

So, accordingly im providing eligibility criteria:

1.IIT-JEE:

Candidate must attain minimum 60% aggregate in all subjects combined.
(50% for SC/ST).

2.AIEEE:

Candidate must attain minimum 50% aggregate in all subjects combiner.
(40% for SC/ST).

So if your aggregate is equal to the minimum aggregate mentioned above then you are eligible, otherwise, you are not!

Hello,

Admission to engineering after 60 % marks in Physics and Chemistry and 40 % in Maths are as follows: -

Minimum Eligibility for engineering is pass 10+2 examination with Physics, Chemistry and Maths with 50 % aggregate marks from a recognised board.

And For admission in engineering (B.E. or B.Tech.), you have to fight AIEEE (All India Engineering Entrance Exam) OR State PET (Pre Engineering Test) examination.

Best of Luck
