Sir I want to know about the age limitation for NDA examination.
My date of birth is 29.08.1993.
Can I apply for NDA?

In order to be eligible for NDA Exam, one should be in the age group of 16 1/2 years to 19 years by 1st July of the year in which the exam is going to be conducted.

As per this criteria, your age should be not more than 19 years by 1st July of 2012 to be eligible for NDA Exam.

As you are being a candidate with a date of birth 29-08-1993, you are going to complete 19 years by 29-08-2012.

By cracking NDA Exam, you can make entry into the following defence services,
-Army wing
-Navy wing
-Air Force wing

The selection procedure to be placed in the above Defence services is by

NDA is the all India entrance examination which is organized and conducted by the UPSC (Union Public Service Commission ) every year to select candidates for the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force.

Its an undergraduate exam and so a lot of NDA aspirants take part in it.


Now the Basic Eligibility Criteria to apply for the NDA exam are :



1. You should be an Unmarried Male Indian National.

2. You should be a minimum 12th pass from a recognized school or state board. No fixed percentage is specified in the notification.

3. Your age should be within 16.5 to 19 years. No relaxations are provided for these.

4. You must have studied Physics and Maths as compulsory subjects if you wish to apply for the Indian Air Force and Navy.

5. You should be physically fir.


Now as you ask, if being a 93 born you are eligible or not, I would say YES ! surely you are eligible to apply for the NDA as you are not more than 19 years yet !!!

HELLO FRIEND,
A candidate must be an unmarried male and have attained the age of 16 1/2 years and must not have attained the age 19 years on the 1st January or 1st of July of the year succeeding the year of examination.

You should be at least 15 years old or your date of birth should be before 1 july 1997 if you want to be appear in 2013 NDA exams. Yes you are eligible for the test.

You can appear in the NDA exams as many times as you want.

But you just need to meet the eligibilty criteria set up for the exams each time .

Below is the current eligibilty to appear in the UPSC conducted NDA exams:
12th pass for the Army wing
12th pass with Phy and Maths as subjects for the Airforce and Navy wing

Age- Minimum 16.5 years
Maximum 19 years

Only MALE candidates can apply for the NDA exams

Next NDA exams will be held on 14th April 2013
Last date to apply is 21st January 2013

Unfortunately your age right now is 19 years and 10 months and the upper age limit of NDA Exam is 19 years. So you are not eligible to give this examination. Any unmarried male citizen of India whose age is somewhere between 16.5 and 19 years can also apply for this exam.

Full form of NDA is National Defense Academy and an examination is conducted for the recruitment of cadets in the academy by Union Public Service Commission every year. This exam is conducted by UPSC twice every year and you can join any one of the following wing of your choice:-

• Army Wing
• Naval Wing
• Air Force Wing

Although you will be given the choice to list your preferences but the final decision will be taken by the authorities concerned where different parameters are considered before taking the decision. Apart from the written examination, there is an interview session which is conducted by the SSB and also a medical test which is also mandatory.

This exam can be given only by the male citizens of India who are unmarried. During their stay in the NDA for training they cant get married because on doing so they will be asked to leave. This exam is therefore only for the boys and girls cannot give this exam.

To join the Army wing you need to be a higher secondary passed out student or its equivalent from a recognized institution to enter the army wing. At 10+2 level you have the liberty to choose any subject of your choice as the subject combination here does not matters so much.

But if you want to join the Naval Academy or Air Force Academy then you need to have physics and mathematics at 10+2 level. Apart from that needless to say you need to be an H.S. pass out student as well.

Please Note:- To apply for this exam your age needs to be between 16.5 and 19 years.

Total Marks:- 900
Total Time:- 5 Hours

Subject Areas To Look At:-

• Mathematics- 300 marks- 2.5 Hours
• General Ability Test- 600 marks- 2.5 Hours

So,you are not eligible for writing the NDA exam which is a Defence service exam

Age Limitation For NDA

National Defence Academy Exam is held every year in April and August to include candidates in the following wings :
