i am 44 yr old my percentage was 50 in masters from mumbai university subject was political science.am i eligible to appear for net/seg?

you are eligible for net/set exam as there is no such age limit

factor , but friend i guess if you belong to sc/st category [/B]

then yes definitely you are eligible for this exam as the minimum

percentage required for sc/st is 50% which you are having ,

and if you belong to general category then i am sorry you

are not applicable for this exam as for general category 55%

needed in post graduation in any discipline .

Eligibility For NET Exam

The minimum eligibility criterion to appear for the National Eligibility Test(NET) conducted by UGC is as follows :-

>> you should have attained an aggregate of 55% marks in your post graduation..(including all the subjects and without rounding off)

>> you need to secure 50% in masters if you belong to the SC/ST category..

>> you should be more than 18 years of age to appear for the NET Exam..

>> the upper age limit for the candidates applying for the Junior Research Fellowship is 28 years whereas there is no age restriction to apply for the lectureship programme..

I am really sorry to disappoint but you are not eligible to appear for the NET Exam as you do not satisfy the minimum percentage requirement for the exam..

The NET exam is conducted every year by the University Grants Commission (UGC) for the below mentioned posts :

a) Junior Research Fellowship (JRF)

b) Lecture ship

Now you have to decide that for which post you want to apply.

This is because if you want to apply for the post of JRF , then sorry to say but you are ineligible.

The Age Limit for JRF is 21-28 years as your current age is 44 years.

However if you want to appear in the NET exam for the post of lecture ship , then you can apply.

The Things that you should consider carefully are :

* you must have completed post graduation in any stream from any recognized college/university.

* You must have a minimum of 55% marks in post graduation.

* You must be an Indian.

YOU are NOT ELIGIBLE to apply for the UGC-NET exams or even the MAHARASTRA SET Exams

Eligibilty to apply for these exams is:
Post graduation pass with minimum 55% marks for all the candidates who belong to Generala nd OBC category
In case of candidates from SC/ST category minimum 50% marks is required

There is no age CAP so , you can apply till any age

In your case your marks is less than 55% , so you cannot apply
