Re: Am I eligible to apply for IAS after completion of BCA course?
Please don't worry you are eligible for the IAS exam. The qualification requirement is graduation course in any stream. It does not matter whether you have completed BCA or B.Sc. Therefore you can start preparing for the IAS Exam without anything to be worried about.
IAS stands for the Indian Administrative Service, which is an important part of Indian Bureaucracy. There are various posts in the IAS. The job of IAS officer is to implement policies of the state and central government. This means traveling consistently to the places to ensure policy is being implemented properly. This is not all, IAS also helps government draft policy by attending meetings with different ministries. IAS officer also do crisis management during the floods, earthquake, drought or any other natural disaster, at the same time violence and protests in his region. These are some of the jobs that IAS officer do. To become IAS officer, you would require to appear for the Civil Service Examination by the Union Public Service Commission. This exam is also conducted for selecting candidates for the IPS and IFS officers. While you do meet the educational requirement for the IAS officer, there are certain physical requirements that you are also required to meet. Below I am writing down all the requirements for the IAS Exam. Eligibility 1. You must be Indian national. 2. Must have graduation degree in any stream from a recognised university. Age Limit You age should be 21 to 30 years as on August 1 of the examination year. The upper age limit for OBC is 33 years. For SC/ST candidates the upper age limit is 35 years. Number of Attempts General - 4 OBC - 7 SC/ST - No Limit Good thing here is that even General candidates have four attempts to clear the exam. It is very hard for several candidates to clear the exam in first attempt therefore they can use it as an experience and prepare hard for next time. Physical Requirements Height Male - 165 cm (General) and 160 cm (ST) Female - 150 cm (General) and 145 cm (ST) Chest Male Minimum 84 cm. Expansion 5 cm Female Min 79 cm expansion 5 cm Eye Sight: 6/6 or 6/9 distant vision for good eye 6/12 or 6/9 for worst eye |
