How to apply for IAS or IPS exam? I am a final semester student of BCA
Hi, I'm in my final semister of BCA (distance Education) from Dr.C.V.RAMAN university, Chattisghar. I would like to know if I can apply for IAS or IPS exams.

Dear aspirant,
Please apply after you finish teh graduation exam. For the time being you can finish the syllabus of UPSC CIvil services. The selection of best books will play a great role in deciding your rank. If you have a good collection of books then your preparation will be better. At the same time your hard work to finish the syllabus of optional subjects will play a great role in deciding your rank in the mains. In order to have expert level knowledge of General studies the recommended books are: General Studies Manual -McGraw Hill Publication Arihant Publication Upkar Publication UPSC Portal books Pratiyogita Darpan study material , Civil Services Chronicle, Competition wizard for articles on important issues. Most common optional: Public administration 1.Fadia and Fadia 2. Laxmikant from McGraw Hill Publication 3.UPSC Portal study material Believe you can and you will on the half way. You can apply for IAS after completing graduation. Prelims and mains exam for IAS selection is conducted by UPSC. Applications can be submitted online through the web portal of UPSC. Your age must be less than 30 years. Concession in age is given for reserved category candidates.

In both IAS and IPS, you need to complete the graduation from regular affiliated college. You are eligible for appearing for the IPS Exam only after completing the graduation. You also have to meet their physical standards after you have cleared the entrance test. The entrance exam comprises of three sections Preliminary Examination which covers objective type questions, Mains which is subjective type questions and personal interview questions. IPS exam also have some specific physical requirement which are different from rest of the Civil Service exam.
Height – Male 165 cm Pahari Male (general also) & ST (not the SC/ OBC) – 160 cm Female 150 cm Pahari Female (general also) & ST (not SC/ OBC)- 145 cm Chest – Male Minimum 84 cm. Expansion 5 cm. Female Min 79 cm expansion 5 cm. Eye sight – 6/6 or 6/9 distant vision for good eye.6/12 or 6/9 for worst eye. Near vision J 1 for good eye. J2 for worst eye. The age limit has to be 21 years minimum till 30 years maximum. Incase ofOBCs, it is 33 and 35 for SCs/STs . There are four attempts for the for general, seven for OBCs and no limit for SCs/STs. The physical standards are equally important for the job profile and the rigorous training at the National Police Academy, Hyderabad is conducted. |

# There is no any issue over your candidature for IAS & IPS Examination. You can definitely apply for IAS or IPS through Civil Service Examination.
# All degree holders are eligible for Civil Service Examination irrespective the nature of degree. # Even the candidates who are/have appeared in the final year of degree are eligible. # The age limit fixed for Civil Service Examination are: * 20-30 years for Unreserved category (UR) * 20-33 years for OBC category * 20-35 years for Scheduled Caste category * 20-35 years for Scheduled Tribe category # There is a restriction over number of attempts for candidates which are mentioned below: * Only four attempts fixed for Unreserved category. * Only seven attempts fixed for OBC category. * Unlimited number of attempts for Scheduled Caste category. * Unlimited number of attempts for Scheduled Tribes category. # The pattern of Civil Service Examination: * Preliminary Test (Civil Service Aptitude Test) * Mains Examination * Interview # Candidate must meet with following physical parameters especially for IPS are: * Must not be suffered from any critical disease. * Must not have colour blindness and night blindness. * Eye sight must be 6/6 or 6/9. * Must not be over-weight or underweight. * Height must be 165 cm or above. * Chest must be 80 cm with the expansion of 5 cm. |

Yes,you are eligible to apply for IAS or IPS exam after completion of your Graduation.
UPSC conducts various exams for civil services, engineering services,defense services and many more every year in India. UPSC conducts civil services exam in order to recruit personnel to the posts like IAS,IPS,IFS,IRS etc. The eligibility criteria required for civil services exam are as under:- -The candidate should be an Indian. -The candidate should have completed graduation degree in any discipline from a recognized university.Final year appearing candidate can also apply for the exam. -The age limit to apply for the exam is from 21 years to 30 years for general category.There is relaxation in upper age limit by 3 years for OBC candidates and 5 years for SC/ST candidates. -The no. of attempts for the exam is 4 times for general category under the creamy layer,7 times for OBC candidates and no limits for SC/ST candidates. -The exam process involves *Preliminary Exam *Main exam *Personality Interview. |

I.A.S. is a civil service exam which is held every year by union public service commission of India and only the graduate candidates and appearing final semester of graduation can apply for exam.
For the preparation of I.A.S. you should be aware of it in starting if you are going to prepare yourself for this exam you have to choose the subjects in which you are most interested in graduation and select a main subject make clear basics of it to make better grip on this subject and also choose it as a main subject in I.A.S. exam also. You have to regularly read the magazines that are related to Civil service exam and there articles that are posted for you like (Pratiyogita darpan). You should solve the last ten years question papers of the I.A.S. exam and check that what is the matter changing every year and what can be your strength in the exam according to your interest. You can also join any coaching classes for I.A.S. preparation for it Chanakya institute in Delhi and Chandigarh is giving best classes and also some other institutes are there gives the coaching for this. Regularly read the best magazines as- Career 360, Rojgar samachar,Upkar publication and UPSC books corner. Age criteria- ** Candidate to be 21-30 years age group and 3 years relaxation for OBC candidates and 5 years for the SC/ST candidates.
