Re: Am I eligible to apply for UGC NET Exam after scoring MA in Economics with 55% in Distance Learning?
Having completed post graduation degree means that you are eligible for the National Eligibility Test. You don't need to worry about having completed the post graduation through distance education.
This does not matter at all. Whether you have completed from regular mode, correspondence or distance education, as long as your college is recognized by the University Grants Commission, you are not likely to face any problem. You will not be facing this issue. Therefore feel free to apply for the National Eligibility Test. It will now be conducted in the month of December. If you need more time to prepare then appear for it next year in June. National Eligibility Test is conducted for college lectureship as well Junior Research Fellowship. The eligibility criteria apart from age limit, remains the same. NET Eligibility 1. Nationality: It should be Indian 2. Education: At least a master's degree. 3. Marks: No less than 55 percent. 4. Relaxation: 5% for SC/ST but not for OBC. 5. Final year students may also apply for it. 6. But these students will need to submit their master's degree in 2 years. 7. Subject: Economics will be your subject for NET exam. 8. Age Limit (JRF) - Lower age is 19 years while upper age limit is 28 years. 9. Relaxation (OBC) - Upper age limit is relaxed to 31 years. 10. Relaxation (SC/ST) - Five years in upper age limit. 11. Age Limit (Lectureship) - Should be 19 years old. No upper age limit. |

This test is conducted as a motive to select candidates for the posts of : 1) JRF 2) Lectureship The NET Exam is conducted in the months of June and December every year. The Eligibility Criteria that need to be fulfilled by candidates applying for this exam are : ** The candidate must have completed post graduation in any stream from any recognized university. ** The candidate must have secured a minimum of 55% marks in post graduation. ** Relaxation of 5% marks is given to those candidates who belong to SC/ST Category. ** No Relaxation in marks is given to OBC Candidates. ** Candidates pursuing post graduation in final year are also eligible to apply for the same. ** There is no age limit for the post of Lectureship. ** The age limit for the post of JRF is 21-28 years. ** Relaxation of 3 years in upper age is given to OBC Candidates whereas a relaxation of 5 years is given to SC/ST Candidates.
