Re: Am I eligible for IAS exam at an age of 29? I belong to general category
Indian Administrative Service exam is conducted under Civil Services Examination which is also for the Indian Police Service as well the Indian Forest Service. This exam is conducted on yearly basis by the Union Public Service Commission.
As per your query, the age limit for general candidate is 30 years on the upper side. The date is calcuated as on the August 1 of examination year. Therefore if you wish to appear for Civil Services Examination in 2013, your age should be less than 30 years of August 1. Unfortunately this is not the case for you. Since your date of birth is 30 January 1983, you have already crossed 30 years mark on the 30 January of this year. If calculate your age as on August 1, 2013, it will be well over 30 years. This makes you ineligible for the Indian Administrative Service. You can not appear for the Civil Services Examination. It would be better to consider some other career option depending on your qualification. IAS Eligibility 1. The candidate has to be Indian national. 2. He/She should be graduate. 3. No percentage criteria in bachelor's degree. 4. You can not be younger than 21 years to appear for the exam. 5. Candidates who stand to be older than 30 years as on August 1 of exam year are not eligible. 6. There is 3 years relaxation given to OBC. 7. Age limit is extended to 35 years for SC/ST. Selection Procedure 1. Preliminary Exam 2. Main Exam 3. Interview |
