CDS stands COMBINED DEFENCE SERVICE

CDS stands for Combined Defence Service . UPSC Conduct CDS Examination for twice in a year in CDS I and CDS II .

After cleared this examination candidates are eligible to Join -

IMA (Indian Military Academy)
OTA (Officers Training Academy)
Naval Academy
Air- Force Academy

The educational qualification and age criteria for CDS exam is given below-

Indian Military Academy:- You need to be a graduate in any discipline from a recognized university.

Your age should be between 19 and 24 years.

Air Force Academy:- You need to have a bachelor's degree in science with physics or mathematics or you can do B.E./B.Tech in engineering or technology.

Your age should be between 19 and 23 years.

Naval Academy:- You need to complete your graduation in engineering or technology or you can do B.Sc degree with physics or mathematics.

Your age should be between 19 and 23 years.

Officer's Training Academy:- You need to have a bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university or institution.

Your age should be between 19 and 25 years.

Yes , 4Th year B-tech student are applicable for CDS exam .

Eligibility criteria:-

Indian naval academy: You should be complete engineering graduation or B.Sc with physics, mathematics subjects from a recognised university.

Age limits are 19 to 22 years.


Indian Airforce academy: You should be complete engineering graduation or B.Sc with physics, mathematics from a recognised university.

If you are interested to pursue a career in defense and want to go undergo training in any one of the following academy:- Indian Military Academy, Air Force Academy Naval Academy and Officer's Training Academy, then you need to sit for the CDS examination. The full form of CDS is Combined Defence Services. The CDSE examination is conducted by the UPSC.

If you wish to join the Indian Military Academy then you need to be a graduate in any disicpline from a recognized university. Your age should be between 19 and 24 years.

If you wish to join the Air Force Academy then you need to have a bachelor's degree in science with physics or mathematics or you can do B.E./B.Tech in engineering or technology. Your age should be between 19 and 23 years.

No,you will not be eligible to apply for CDS(Combined Defence Services) Exam if you are in 4th Semester.To apply for this exam,you will have to meet these Eligibility conditions :

Educational qualification :-
~You should be passed out in your Bachelor degree course from recognized university.
~If you will be Final semester that is in 6th semester then you will be eligible to apply for this exam.
~You should have Mathematics in 10+2 level.

Age :-
~Minimum age required to apply for this exam is 18 years.
~Your age should not be above 24 years.

There are three Wings in which you can apply through this exam.These are :-

CDS i.e Combined Defence Service Examination and this examination is conducted by UPSC twice in a year as namely CDS I and CDS II . CDS II notification was already released . To apply for this examination , you need to complete the graduate degree . If you are completed graduate then you are eligible to apply .
