hi,
in order to become an IPS officer you'll have to appear for civil services exam conducted by upsc. eligibility for this exam is graduation in any stream, so you are eligible to appear in this exam, provided that you fulfill the age criteria which is 21 to 30 years for general category.

the civil services exam is conducted in three phases- pre , main and interview.

pre is a screening test and consists of two papers- general studies and aptitude. general studies consists of questions from various subjects and tests general knowledge of various fields and aptitude consists of logical and reasoning and quantitative aptitude.

candidates clearing pre are eligible for main. it consists of two optional subjects to be chosen from a list of subjects provided by MPSC, one Indian language, english grammar, two papers of general studies, and essay writing.

main is followed by interview.

and then a final list of successful candidates is prepared on the basis of score in main and interview.

you can find latest notifications on official website of upsc www.upsc.gov.in

best of luck.
