Yes, definitely you can find jobs in software firms. Certain companies recruit candidates from all streams in to their job pool. On the other hand, certain other specifies certain job requirements. You can pursue short-term courses to meet up the requirements. You must apply for the job only after reading the notification in detail. The candidate should possess adequate technical and soft skills to get recruited in software firms.

Best part of IT company is that they can absorb any engineering student even if he/she is not from IT or computer science background.
So even if you have done chemical or any other engineering you can still appear for these company.

You have less marks in you graduation so you may face some problem as few company demands minimum of 60%.
But there are companies which take candidates below 60%, you just need to search them.

yes.. you can. because IT companies not only choose the candidates from IT and CSE department. they also choose from other department, if you have a good score. sorry to tell this. as you have low marks in your b.tech, its somewhat difficult to get it. but dont worry. there are some companies that acceptthe candidates who have less than 60%. you should go in search of a company that accepts your percentage.

preferred skills to get into a software company is that:

1)Should have scored more than 60% marks in graduation or post graduation.
2)Should have some programming knowledge.
3)Should have excellent Written as well as verbal communication skills along with aptitude skills.

if not you can also do your post graduation in your field, and get into a reputated company.
