Indian Police Service is a top most indian civil service

To get job as IPS officer you need to clear an entrance examination called Civil Service Examination, Which will be conducted by UPSC.

The Academic Requirements for this exam are as follows.

->You should just acquire a degree from a recognized University.

->That degree may be of any discipline. It doesn't matter at all.

these are the basic Educational qualifications required by a aspirant.
There is no need to get a particular percentage in your academics you are free from such kinda cutoffs.

Extra Qualifications required by a IPS Aspirant are

->Physically fit body.
->Good and fast brain.
->Idle Height and chest measurements
->Willingness to work in any part of the country.

Required age criteria to write this examination is

->you should atleast have 21 years of minimum age and should not exceed 30 years of age.

->some extent of relaxation is allowed for reserved category aspirants like OBC/SC/ST.

These are enough qualifications for you to get registered and appear in the examination.
Note : One more important qualification one should have is to have an attitude to serve the country.

Hello Shashi,
For Civil Service Exam, you need to be a graduate in any discipline. There is no percentage criteria.
So, any graduate, within the age limit of 21-30 years is eligible to write the exam.

As far as required skill is concerned, you must have a sufficient knowledge in the field of general studies including current affairs, History etc.
Apart from this, in the first stage of the exam,known as civil service aptitude test, your aptitude towards civil service will be tested too.

In the Main exam, the second stage of civil service exam, your command over English language, Indian language will be tested along with other subjects.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR IPS EXAM

IPS exam is conducted by UPSC. There are some criteria you have to follow for appearing in IPS exam.

Those candidate have completed graduation in any discipline from recognized university are eligible for IPS exam.

But your age should be in between 21-30years for general candidate.
In IPS exam their is provide age relaxation for OBC candidate is 3years and for SC/ST candidate is 5 years.

The maximum attempts for Sc/ST candidate is Unlimited. For OBC candidate it is 7 years and for general candidate it will be 5 years.

Also you must be citizen of India.


PROCESS BECOME A IPS OFFICER:-

1. Fill up the Application form.
2.Preliminary exam is consist of two papers.
a) General studies -----150 marks
b)From Optional subject -------300 marks
3.If you have qualify in Preliminary exam then you have to go for IPS mains exam
4.After completion of your main exam you have to go for Interview.

EXAM DATE:-

Notification Date - 04/02/2012
Last date of application - 05/03/2012
Preliminary examination - 20/05/2012.
