can a girl be a ips officer by taking commerse without maths

Of course a girl can become Indian Police Service Officer without having Maths as a subject. There is actually no requirement of any specific subject to apply for the Indian Police Service. Just concentrate on your studies and complete graduation. After that you are free to apply for IPS.

You will have to appear for civil service examination by the Union Public Service Commission. As a IPS officer your responsibilities will include:

Collecting Evidence

Counter-Terrorism

VIP Security

Border Security

Maintaining law and order

Drug Traffickling


The IPS officers are also get selected for various jobs in R&AW, CBI and IB. Below is the eligibility criteria. Please check and ensure you meet it.


1. A graduation degree in any discipline.

2. There is no percentage crieteria.

3. Age limit is 21 to 30 years.

4. There is 3 years relaxation for OBC.

5. SC/ST get 5 years relaxation.



Physical Requirements (Female)

1. Height:150 cm (General) and 145 cm (ST).

2. Chest: Min 79 cm expansion 5 cm


Eye Sight:

6/6 or 6/9 distant vision for good eye

6/12 or 6/9 for worst eye

No color blindness or night blindness
