Can girls sit for cds exam after 10+2 in science stream?

After 12th Girls are not eligible to sit for CDS exam as the minimum academic qualification for the same is Graduation.

CDS - Combined Defence Service, the entrance exam for which is conducted by UPSC every year as CDS-I and CDS -II to join Indian Military Academy, Naval Academy, Air Force Academy and Officer's Training Academy.


The eligible candidate must be an unmarried Indian National having either appear for the final Graduation Degree exam or pass in any stream from a recognised University within the age of 19 to 25 years with good Physical and Mental Fitness.

Girls candidates are only eligible to apply for Indian Officer's Training Academy(OTA) of CDS.

So as you are interested for CDS so first you have to complete Graduation in order to apply for the same.

I am really sorry to say but you do not have proper knowledge about the CDS Exam it seems. This is because as CDS stands for the Combined Defense Services which is basically an Entrance which is aimed to recruit GRADUATES. But since you are talking about the 10+2 entry, I would recommend NDA exam for all those who are passing out of Class 12th Board Exams.

For your query, I am sorry to say that GIRLS CANNOT APPLY FOR THE NDA Exam after passing Class 12th. However if you take up graduation after it and then of course apply for the CDS. This exam is conducted by the UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) every year in the month of Feb-March. Its for the purpose of recruiting graduates in the various posts of Army, Air Force and Navy.

If you wish to apply for this, then you have to fulfill the following Eligibility Criteria's. They are listed as follows :-

1. You should be an Indian
2. You must have complete your graduation or in your final year.
3. Physically and Mentally fit.
4. Your age should range between 19-23 for Air Force, 21-25 for Navy and Army. Also some relaxations are provided for SC/ST or OBC candidates.

PATTERN :

There are entries for Indian Military Academy, Indian Navy, and Air Force Academy. So for them you have to appear for exam in which you would be tested on English, General Knowledge and Elementary Mathematics. Otherwise if you are applying for OTA i.e Officers Training Academy then you would be tested on English and General Knowledge only.

The Acronym "CDS" stands for the Combined Defense Services. The Union Public Service Commission conducts the Combined Defense Services Examination every year for those candidates who want to shape their future in any of the following wings of Indian Defense :

1) Indian Militant Academy

The Combined Defense Services Exam is the only examination after the NDA Exam which provides the opportunity to candidates to join Indian Defense.

If you want you can join through C.D.S then you have to pass graduation with any stream.

C.D.S Exam is conducted by U.P.S.C twice.

Eligibility criteria for C.D.S exam:-

> Medically fit (no major surgery)
