Yes, after completion of Graduation Degree, you are eligible to apply for IPS.

IPS stands for Indian Police Service, to become an IPS officer one need to crack Civil Service Exam, conducted by UPSC once every year.

The eligible candidate must be an Indian National having either appear for the final Graduation Degree exam or pass in any stream from a recognised University within the age of 21 to 30 years with upper age relaxation for reserved candidate with good Physical Fitness.

Besides this the aspiring candidate for IPS should have minimum prescribed Physical requirement such as:-

HEIGHT :-General/OBC Male-165cm and Female-150cm while SC/ST Male-160cm and Female-145cm.

CHEST:- Male-84cm while Female-79cm expandable to 5cm in both the cases.

Of course you can become IPS officer after completing graduation. The graduation degree is all that is required to become Indian Police Service officer.

You will have to now appear for the Civil Services Examination to become IPS officer. This Civil Services Examination is also conducted for IAS, IFS etc. This is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission.

Unfortunately you can not apply for the exam this year. But that is not all bad since it would give you sufficient time to prepare for the Civil Services Examination. You may know how difficult it is to clear this exam.

Spend the rest of the year preparing for the exam and start looking for the forms towards the end of the year or early 2014. You should fill the forms as soon as they are released by the Union Public Service Commission.


Eligibility

1. Candidates of only Indian origin can apply for IPS.

2. You must have completed your graduation degree.

3. No percentage criteria in graduation course.

4. Anyone below 21 years is not eligible to apply.

5. Those who are above 30 years are also not eligible.

6. OBC are exception since they can apply till 33 years.

7. SC/ST are also allowed to appear till 35 years.


Physical Requirements

1. The height of Male candiadte should be at least 165 cm.

2. Only ST are give relaxation and they require 160 cm.

3. For Female the height criteria is 150 cm and 145 cm for ST.

4. The Chest of Male should be 84 cm with 5 cm expansion.

5. The chest of female should be 79 cm with 5 cm expansion.
