You can have any graduation degree. Be it Bachelor of Arts, Commerce, Science, Technology or some other. There is only a requirement of graduation degree. Which means your Bachelor of Arts will also be accepted.

What you must ensure is that degree is obtained from a recognized college. If you haven't then it is going to be an issue.

Union Public Service Commission conducts the Civil Services Examination. It is conducted in two stages. First is preliminary which is in May/June while the Main examination is conducted in August/September.

Since you are eligible for Indian Administrative Service, it is time to start preparing for it. Get yourself books of 12th standard by NCERT. Apart from that keep an eye on latest happening around the world.

Read newspapers and political magazines. Download question papers of previous years from internet and solve them. It is the best way to find out strength and weaknesses.

IAS Eligibility

1. Candidate should be a Indian citizen.

2. Graduation is the minimum requirement for the exam.

3. For marks there is no criteria.

4. You should not be less than 21 years old.

5. General can apply up to 30 years.

6. While OBC can apply up to 33 years.

7. SC/ST are allowed to apply till 35 years.

8. There are no physical requirements for Indian Administrative Service.

9. General candidate has 4 attempts to clear Civil Services Examination.

10. OBC should be able to do that in 7 attempts.

11. There is no limit for SC and ST.

Selection Procedure

1. Preliminary Exam

2. Main Exam

3. Personal Interview
