Hello friend,
The Union Public Service Commission, often referred as UPSC, conducts various examination but since you have qualified +2 level of examination and pursuing graduation, you are eligible to write the following examinations:

NDA exam- If you want to join the defense forces of India, you may appear for the exam. The examination is conducted for recruitment of candidates in National Defense Academy. The minimum eligible age is 16 1/2 years and the maximum age limit is 19 years.

SCRA exam- The special class railway apprentices exam is for candidates who have studied maths and Physics/Chemistry at +2 level.
The minimum eligible age to apply for the exam is 17 years and the maximum age limit is 21 years.

Apart from these two examinations conducted by UPSC, you need to be a graduate to be eligible for most of the exams.

Eligibility For UPSC Exams

UPSC conducts a number of exams every year like NDA,CDS,Civil Service Exams,etc but generally people confuse UPSC Exam with Civil Service Exams so i am assuming that you are asking about the eligibility for the UPSC Civil Service Exams..


According to the UPSC guidelines..a candidate must satisfy the following criterion to appear for the Civil Service Exam :-

1) You need to be a graduate or a final year graduation student in any stream from an AICTE or UGC recognized University..

2) You should be in the age limit of 21-30 years for general category,21-33 years for OBC and 21-35 years for SC/ST

The maximum number of attempts allowed for the general category is 4,for OBC it is 7 and for SC/ST there is no limit..

Exam Pattern :-

There are 2 rounds for clearing this exam

1) Prelims :- This round..also known as Civil Service Aptitude Test(CSAT) has 2 objective papers which will test your general knowledge,current affairs and aptitude..

2) Mains :- If you clear the Prelims,then you shall qualify for the Mains where you will face nine papers..where your knowledge of your graduation subjects shall be tested..

If you clear both the rounds..you shall be called for the interview and the final selection..

Focus on your general knowledge part..There are many books available in the market for that ..

Apart from the GK..you also need to have a strong grip on your graduation subjects..

So,right now concentrate on completing your graduation and start your preparations side by side..

Dear friend,
You can join Defence after completing your graduation.Depending on the mode of Stream you have selecting in graduation.
By CDSE(Combined defence service exam) conducted twice a year by UPSC to select candidates for pre-commisioned training in one of the following academies:

IMA
Air force
Navy
OTA
UNION PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION


Eligibility:
IMA........You should be a graduate with age limit of 19-24 years.

Air force.....You should be a graduate with physics and maths compulsory at 12th level or B.tech with age limits 19-23 years

Navy.......You should be a b.tech graduate with age limits 19-22 years

OTA........You should be a graduate with age limits 19-25 years.

The next CDS Exam is going to be conducted on 12th feb 2012.Notification for this is going to be published in december do regularly check the newspapers.
