I want to know about IAS exam syllabus in detail. like which and how many subjects will have to select me in IAS PRELIMS and specially about Mains exam. How many subjects can select in mains exam? please tell me....

IAS stands for Indian Administrative Services. It comes under Civil Services Examination conducted by Union Public Service Commission. Here is detailed pattern of Civil Services examination:

Stage I:

Paper I: General Studies Paper I.

Paper II: CSAT.

Now CSAT is qualifying, you need to score only 33%. Marks in General Studies paper will decide whether you will appear for Mains exam or not.

Stage II: Mains exam.

Paper 1: Compulsory language paper.

Paper 2: Compulsory language paper.

Paper 3: Essay.

Paper 4: General Studies Paper I

Paper 5: General Studies Paper II.

Paper 6: General Studies Paper III.

Paper 7: General Studies Paper IV.

Paper 8: Paper I of optional subject chosen.

Paper 9: Paper II of optional subject chosen.

Last stage is interview. In prelims, you need not choose any subject. See the attachment which contains latest syllabus of all.

You can choose one subject for mains papers.
