I guess you are asking about the Main exam of civil service exam, conducted by union public service commission. If I am right then I must tell you that you can definitely select Physics and electrical as you optional subjects. Only the following combination of subjects are not allowed in the Main exam: Political Science & International Relations and Public Administration Commerce and Management Anthropology and Sociology Maths and Statistics Agriculture and Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science Management and Public Administration Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science and Medical Science Any two branches of engineering |

Re: Can I take electrical and physics subject for mains exam?
Dear friend, for Civil service main exam you can choose electrical and physics as optional subjects.According to me,if you are having depth knowledge about this two subject take then as optional subject in Civil service main exam.As this subjects are quite tough than the other optional subject,it is suggested to take easier subjects such as Law, political science. However when you are confident of cracking the exam, you can go for it.However most people wont take either engineering or medical as optional subject due to its vast syllabus.Go ahead with what your mind says. All the best.
