The National Defense Academy comprise of the Army Wing, Air Force Wing and the Naval Wing. Now, candidates who have qualified higher secondary examination with Mathematics and Physics as major subjects are considered eligible for all the three wings of National Defense Academy whereas, those who have qualified higher secondary examination with subject combination other than Physics and Mathematics are considered eligible only for the Army Wing of the academy.

The selection procedure for National Defense Academy is carried out by Union Public Service Commission and is known as NDA Exam conducted twice a year. In order to be considered eligible for the exam, candidates, apart from possessing the aforementioned academic qualification, must be within the prescribed age limit which is as follows:

Minimum eligible age: 16.5 years
Maximum age limit: 19 years

For further information about the academy, refer to its official website:

NDA is conducted twice a year by the UPSC. Candidate should be 12th passed or 12th appearing.
Candidate with science stream PCM as their subjects are eligible for all three wings, while candidate with other stream or subjects are only eligible for Army wings.

Eligibility for NDA:-

is for 10+2 qualified students. The services (Army Navy Air force) depend on what subject you took in 10+2 - physics, maths etc. So, if you are still studying in school, 10+2, you have the doors open. I suggest you check the NDA and UPSC sites for eligibility criteria and other details

And If you are a medical student at a medical college, pursuing MBBS, NDA is not the route for you. In all probability, you would have crossed the age limit. You can join the armed forces as a doctor though, post completion of your MBBS or even after your specialization.
