i wanted to know about the carrier of 10th class pass students in merchant navy?

Dear friend,
You cannot join Merchant navy after 10th standard.. to join merchant navy you have to first complete your 12th with Physics, chemistry, Maths.. Then you can join as a Deck Cadet...
If you want to join in officer post then you have to first complete your graduation....

So, my friend if you really want to join in merchant navy then first complete your 12th in science...

With 10th class in hand , you can't even join for a Clerk Job about merchant navy forget about it.

For getting into Merchant Navy you have to follow below Eligibility Criteria.

Age Limits :- Unmarried Male and Female and age should not be More than 20 years but for SC/ST it has been relaxed to 5 Years.

Academic Qualifications :-
10+2 Class or Equivalent with Chemistry , Maths and Physics as Subjects.

Equivalent Examination includes CBSE , ICSE , State Boards

As you have Completed 12 and if your Subjects were PCM then you are Eligible for joining Merchant Navy as a Deck Cadets.

More Information :-

Selection is based on JEE Examination conducted by IIT a merit list is prepared after the written test and interview are completed and the Director General of Shipping has the authority to chose which of the 2 training programmes the candidate is best suited for (students can let their preference be known) Both the T.S. Chanakya and MERI institutions do help (under no Government obligations) in recruiting their graduates in suitable Indian Shipping Companies.

Physical Requirements

Candidates who apply for Merchant Navy should be physically and mentally fit. The Navigators are required to have a perfect eyesight, though marine engineers can wear spectacles for eyesight up to plus/ minus 2.5.

Colour blind people need not apply. The candidate must be immune to sea sickness.& Candidate must have height not less than 150cm, weight should be according to the height.

sorry to say with your 10th mark you can join in merchant navy for this following criteria required --
the candidate for applying in this is to be +2 pass in pcm subject.
age limit is 18 - 24 yrs for general
5 yrs relax for SC/ST students.
physical fitness must required by the candidates .

yes there are carrier in merchant navy after 10 like-
cleaning staff
barber staff
food staff
music staff
etc.
but if you join after 12th passing,you can join for
- deck cadet
-marine engineering
-clerk staff
-captain post
But this post are only available if you passed your 12th with physics,maths and chemistry.
so its much better to join after 12 so go with the 12 and pass it out with good marks and then apply for it.

Sorry,my friend,you are not eligible for merchant navy after your 10th.
You can join it after your 12th because in most of the institutes,the minimum eligibility is 12th passed with physics,chemistry and maths.
Along with this,you will have to qualify the entrance test conducted by different institutes.
But before applying,check that you are not colour blind and visually fit.

And as you are the computer engineer so that there is no such difficulties to apply for the Navy.
More over here the requirement for the Computer Engineers is not so much high which is the only cause.

The computer engineers have the responsibility in Navy are as follows:

1. Evaluate intercepted radar signals to determine origin
2.Identify sounds produced by ships, torpedoes, submarines, sonar transmissions, marine life and natural phenomena

to join merchant navy you have to go through the entrance exam conducted by the merchant navy for the various posts
and once you get selected you have to go through the training period and after completing that you can continue your job in the merchant navy

You may join Merchant Navy after completing 10th but you are not going to become officer.

Instead 10th pass gets lower level jobs in Merchant Navy.

To join Merchant Navy in any of these department you would have to undergo pre-sea courses.

The duration for Deck and Engine Room course in 3 months.

To be accepted for Catering Crew the course is 4 months long.

After 10th standard you are not eligible for Merchant Navy exam.The minimum qualification is 12th standard with science.

Eligibility criteria for Merchant Navy course

Unmarried male and female candidate are eligible .
Candidates passing 12th with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics are eligible for Merchant Navy course.
Age requirement is not more than 20 years.
SC/ST Students 25 years is maximum age , these categories are given relaxation of five years.
