IAS stands for Indian Administrative Services
It is one of those services to which candidates are appointed through Civil Services Examination. The Civil Services Examination is conducted every year by UPSC. The examination is conducted of two stages. First stage is known as Civil Services Preliminary Examination. This is also called Civil Services Aptitude Test and is common test for all. This examination cotains questions from General studies(History, Geography, Politics, Economics and social development, General Science) English Mathematical Aptitude etc. The second stage is comprised of Main Exam and Interview Only those who qualify Preliminary exam are eligible to appear Main exam and on the basis of marks in Main exam, candidates are called for Interview. The total marks of Main exam and Interview are added to produce final result. The Main examination will contain following papers I. Essay type Indian Language Qualifying Paper (300 marks) II. English Qualifying Paper (300 marks) III. General Essay type paper (200 marks) IV. General Studies (Paper-I & II 300 marks each) V. Optional subject-I (Paper-I & II 300 marks each) VI. Optional subject-II (Paper-I&II 300 marks each) The subject for optional paper are listed below. You can choose any two of them. The choice is completely yours. Agriculture Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science Anthropology Botany Chemistry Civil Engineering Commerce and Accountancy Economics Electrical Engineering Geography Geology History Law Management Mathematics Mechanical Engineering Medical Science Philosophy Physics Political Science and International Relations Psychology Public Administration Sociology Statistics Zoology But following combinations of two optional subjects are not permissible - Political Science & International Relations and Public Administration; - Commerce & Accountancy and Management; - Anthropology and Sociology; - Mathematics and Statistics; - Agriculture and Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science. - Management and Public Administration; - Any two engineering subjects - Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science and Medical Science. Indian Administrative Service exam is part of Civil Service exam.So if you fulfill with this exam,then you are also fulfilled with IAS.Civil service exam is conducted by UPSC every year once.
Eligibility criteria for Civil Service exam: You should have complete graduation degree with any stream from a recognized university. If you belong General category,then your age should be between 21 to 30 year and you can appear for 4 times. If you belong to OBC category,then your age should be between 21 to 33 years and you can appear for 7 times If you belong to SC/ST category,then your age should be between 21 to 35 years and you can appear for 14 times. Civil Service exam consist of Preliminary Exam and Main Exam. After clearing Preliminary Exam,then only you can appear for Main Exam. Important dates for Civil Service exam: Preliminary Exam: Issuing of application form from 4th Feb 2012 to 5th March 2012. Exam will held on 20th May 2012. Main Exam: Main Exam will held on 15th Oct 2012. If you clear this two exams with good rank,then you can get job as Indian Administrative Service Officer. IAS exam is a very important exam in India. Most of the student get dream to become IAS officer ,for this more hard work is required but self study,Concentrate on study is more important. IAS stands for Indian Administrative service. Most of us dream to become IAS.. To accomplish your dream , you need to go through various stages ; Eligibility criteria : (i) Age limits : 21-30 years as on 1.7.2011. (Upper age limit relaxable for SCs/STs, OBCs and certain other categories as specified in Para 3(ii) of Notice). (ii) Educational Qualifications : Bachelor’s degree of a recognised university with at least one of the subjects namely Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physcs, Statistics and Zoology or a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Forestry or in Enginerring or an equivalent qualification (iii) No. of permissible attempts : Four (Seven attemps of OBCs and no limit for SCs/STs (Para 3 (iv) of Notice) (iv) Fee : Rs. 100/- (Rupees one hundred only) (No fee for SCs/STs/Physically disabled only) According to new pattern of civil service examination : Paper consists of - CSAT Two paper : 1. CIVIL SERVICE EXAM IS CONDUCTED BY U.P.S.C.
I.A.S. stands for Indian Administrative Service Examination. ELIGIBILITY FOR I.A.S. EXAMINATION:- - The students who have completed their graduation with any course like technical/ professional are eligible to apply for this examination. - The only need is you must be a graduate degree holder with any discipline. - Only passing mark is required for this exam. - The candidates who have passed their graduation from technical courses must not have any pending backlogs. - You must be Indian citizen. - Your age limit should be 21-30 years. - But in case of O.B.C. 3 years of relaxation & for SC/ST- 5 years of relaxation is available. - For general category 4 number of attempts, OBC- 7 number of attempts, SC/ST- unlimited attempts are available. - You must be physically fit for the test. EXAM PATTERN FOR IAS EXAM:- The IAS exam consists of 3 phases. 1)Preliminary exam 2)Main exam 3)Interview Preliminary exam is divided in to 2 papers. Each paper duration is 120 minutes. Main exam is divided in to 9 papers. Each paper duration is 180 minutes. Final Phase is Interview phase. Candidates who have qualified in both the two above phases can apply for Interview.
