Eligibility criteria and age limit for IAS exam?
Hi all,
I am Sagar, I want what is the eligibiltycriteria,age limit and procedure for IAS exams.Please suggest me how to prepare for IAS . Thanks & Regards, Sagar |

Indian Administration Service exam is held once in year is conducted by UPSC.
Minimum Eligibility for IAS exam Minimum Qualification 1.Graduated from recognized university in any discipline. 2.final year student can also apply. Age should be between 21 to 30 years for General category candidates 21to 33 year for OBC category candidates 21 to 35 years for SC/ST category candidates Number of attempts: 4 attempts for General category candidates. 7 attempts for Obc category candidates 14 attempts for SC/ST category candidates. There are 3 stages in IAS that should be cleared by the candidate. first one is preliminary exam (it is objective type exam) second is main exam (Question to be answer in length) third is personal interview Clearing one will get you to another level exam. Preliminary exam for IAS 2012 consists of objective type questions where as in main exams there will be written test. IAS 2012 preliminary exam syllabus IAS preliminary exam syllabus consists of two papers. Both papers consists of 200 marks questions with two hours for each paper. Paper 1 includes questions relating to current affairs, Indian political system, general science, history of India etc. Paper two consists of questions related to Logical reasoning and analytical ability, Decision making and problem solving, General mental ability, numerical ability English language etc. more details about the IAS 2012 exam syllabus is given in this link. IAS 2012 main exam syllabus IAS main exam includes questions of 2000 marks. The starting date of IAS main exam is from 5th October 2012 and it will last for 21 days. IAS---Indian Administration Service exam & UPSC conduct it once in a year. Candidate should be graduate from recognized university (any branch) Graduated from recognized university in any discipline. Age criteria : (21- 30) years for General category candidates. So ,please prepare for the exam..good luck. 4 attempts for General category candidates. |

Indian administrative service is one of the civil services to which aspirants are admitted by the Union Public Service Commission. The selection includes different stages which one much pass through in order to make himself eligible for the post.
The eligibility required for applying for the exam includes a bachelor degree in any discipline . Final year aspirant can also apply for it. Age limits: For General : 21 years is the lower limit and 30 years is the upper limit. For OBC : 21 years is the lower limit and 33 years is the upper limit. For SC/ST : 21 years is the lower limit and 35 years is the upper limit. For Physically challenged: 21 is the lower limit and 40 yrs is the upper limit. Thanks |

yes for sure you are eligible for attempting IAS ( indian administrative exam) as you have fulfilled with the requirement of the completion of graduation. A general category candidate has an age limit of 32 years, but that doesn't mean that he can write this exam as many times as he wishes. ... The number of attempts for IAS exam: General Category: 6 attempts till 32 years of age. The number of attempts for IAS exam: OBC: 9 attempts till 35 years of age.
